Description:

gtk theme based on kimmiks \"sauerstoff\" (thats what I found in the gtkrc file) and
metacity theme based on \"Scaled Black : Murrina\" made by twigsby.

If anyone wants me to delete this I will.

This theme tries to bring an dark elegant style for the gnome desktop, I aim this theme for those who don't use a dock at the bottom but use the gnome-panel. All ideas / suggestions are very welcome. Please comment what you like about my work and what you don't.

Requires the pixbuf and murrina engine

I accidentally deleted the bluer version!

sry for that!

IMPORTANT! -set the bottom panel to 32px

issues:
firefox fonts.
to fix that go here:
http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Darkfix+%28+easy+fix+for+browsers+%29?content=74504
that is an amazing fix made by code933k
which works with most browsers :)

thank you all for your name-suggestions
for this theme!

I have been to lazy (or busy) to change that
so the name of this theme stays the same.
I have good name suggestions for my next
theme however :)

Changelog:

fixed so that when a window is maximized the maximize/unmaximize button points down and not up.

fixed the "application launcher - properities" earlier you couldn't read the text... it still isn't beautiful but you don't see it that often anyway... changed the overall look a little and other small "improvements".

fixed the borders of maximized windows (is now borderless and are not rounded when maximized) plus tried to make the metacity look more "modern", and other minor changes.

removed the line between active tab and notebook and some other small changes.

fixed the firefox black text problem.
fixed a version with 25px panel.
Also tweaked the "menu button" a little bit to fit the 25px panel. Fixed so that the workspace switcher uses panel-style.

Fixed a bug that made the panel draw two lines of open windows in the window list if set to 32px or larger.

nicer rounded toolbar buttons.

made a new bluer version of the 25px version (user request).

Improved the alternative bluer version, (screenshot 3).

08-12-2007 first version I'm happy with (1.0) , made changes to metacity theme (better , bigger more informative buttons and other changes),and most bugs fixed.

version 1.1 fixed a bug where the default button appeared smaller than other buttons, changed the overall color a little bit closer to blue, new entries...... other small changes. NO changes to alternative version.

1.11 fixed the inkscape problem and made the panel buttons spacing smaller as suggested :)

 Thanks & panel size

Thanks for a great looking theme!

I'm not sure if this was covered elsewhere, but if not....
Just a note for people who like a slightly larger panel. At least in Ubuntu, the dimensions of the home/username/.theme/NoName/gtk-2.0/Panel/panelbuntu.png file can be modified with a drawing program (GIMP in my case) simply by changing the dimensions of the graphic to whatever size you prefer (36 pixels in my case) and saving it. Logout and back in and you can adjust the panel to the size you wanted. I suspect that an extreme size change might have detrimental effects on the "clarity" of the graphic, but minor adjustments look fine.

 Some questions

Hi, this theme is great but I have a few questions:
1. The button in the bottom-left corner doesn't look the same as in your screenshots
(see here:http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/6357/screenshotlt0.png ). How do I fix this?
2. Also, where can I get that background you are using in the terminal?
3. Text in some menus are not visible, e.g in firefox when you type in the url bar. see here:
http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/8896/screenshotwelcometoubunei0.png

Thanks,

the button in the lower left corner I put in the /home/username/.themes/NoName/gtk-2.0/Panel , it's name is bottom-panel-menu-button.png , you can use the gconf-editor to change the main menu icon to it (use custom icon and specify the path and filename), If you don't succeed I can provide a more detailed eplanation (let me know).

as for the firefox problem i don't have a solution yet, i will provide a userchrome.css file that fixes that error as soon as i figure it out.

Thank you for your interest in my theme! :D

sry , at first I didn't notice but the button you have in the lower left corner is the "show desktop" button , not "main menu" so if you look at the lower right corner of my screenshots you see that mine looks exactly the same.

Hello. I've got the same problem with Firefox like another user. Your theme is almost ideal for me. If you correct problem it will be great... Can you publish version with bottom bar 23-26px.? Lots of people don't like huge bars... And last, how to change start button in your theme?

Thank you for your lovely comment about my theme being ideal :D

the firefox problem is really not a problem with the theme (at least I think so) , but I will provide a fix for that once i figure it out.

as for the start button (lower left corner)

you first have to right click the panel you want to add it to and select "add to panel..." then scroll down to "main menu" click on it and click "add" then you see the menu icon in the panel, then you open the gconf-editor (do so by pressing alt + f2 and type gconf-editor) and in the gconf-editor click on "apps" then there scroll down until you se a folder named "panel" , then in the panel folder open the "objects" folder and there you search for an object type "menu-object" then select the "use_custom_icon" box, and in the value "custom_icon" you specify the path to the icon you want to use, in this case it would be /home/USERNAME/.themes/NoName/gtk-2.0/Panel/bottom-panel-menu-button.png
and that you should see the new icon in the panel :)...

As you said many don't like that big panel so ofc I will make a version with smaller panel....

Personally I prefer "galeon" instead of firefox (it is based on firefox) cause it integrates better with gnome and has a few very nice features, but ofc I will provide a fix for the firefox problem as soon as I have it.

if you want to try galeon and you use ubuntu the command to install it is:
sudo apt-get install galeon

Thanks.

Hmm... I can't waiting for :P I've got question for you - can you change cyan backlight colour for another, for example dark blue [like in ELEGANCE theme]? It'll be great and your theme will get new look...

Greetings from Poland...

I know that all is black, white and cyan, but I thought that you can make next version and replace cyan to [for example] blue. I mean this backlight, and of course not only in system bar - rest of system too...

http://pici.se/pictures/IvZtqpZEW.jpg

It'll be NoName Theme "Blue Edition"... It's only my idea, so you can't agree with me... ;)

oh you ment that, sure I can change the colour of all pixmaps... that will take some time so I can't have it ready at once... as for the panel "backlight" i was thinking about making it completely new since i'm not completely happy with it (i'm never happy with anything, I sit around on my computer and every five minutes I have to change something :D) do you want the theme highlights to be darker and bluer or just bluer?

First option - dark and blue. It's nice color combination. But I'm interested how will looking blue version your theme. By the way, I'm the same like you - always search something to change...

Hmmm... now link it's working. Theme is nice now, but I thought you use just a bit darker blue... I like blue colour from Elegance... Can you use color from this theme? It'll be nice... Now, when you open start menu, blue color is almost exactly the same like cyan - difference is imperceptible...

I adjusted the color of everything that was cyan exactly the same amount, including the start button, you have to load it in gconf-editor from the path where it is ( /home/USERNAME/.themes/noname-25-blue/gtk-2.0/panel/bottom-panel-menu-button.png

as for the panel, i have run out of ideas but I'm constantly trying out new things.

btw, could you pls tell me about the pm function here on gnome-look (i'm pretty new here), so I don't know how it works.

I could make everything even darker blue if you want to. If I understand you correct you want the background colors of the windows to be the same thou?
