Hi,

I see a couple of problems with some of the proposals:

By the KDE Community
- if it is a 3rd party software, is it really built by KDE (since KDE now stands for the people, the community is a bit redundant IMO)?

Free Software by KDE
- The same as above. Besides that, I'd add Free/Libre Software just in case

Part of the KDE family
- As above.

Powered by KDE
- since KDE now represents the community, this means 'powered by people'?

I'm not a native speaker, but I think you can say "Powered by KDE [community]" (where the 'community' part is redundant now).

I like this line, but also agree that it's a bit confusing with the new branding - when I see "Powered by KDE", I see the text with two gears and directly associate "KDE" with "Platform/technology".

Yes :-)

Re the possible confusion - perhaps we add community, or we use a graphic that implies community - we aim to provide some nice banners/badges too for websites. Something to think about anyway

Thanks Ivan - or Mr Lancelot :-)

First point - it could be just "by KDE" yes, the community bit may be redundant. As far as whether it is by KDE, it depends if the author sees themselves as part of KDE. We'll offer more than one label to cover cases where this is or isn't true

Point two - yes, something to consider, particularly for different regions/translations

Point three - Since we're talking about software when we apply the label, "part of KDE" would imply KDE=software. Personally, I don't like this one much anyway

Point four - it means powered by _KDE_ people

 Powered by KDE - yay!

Simple concept. Yes, powered by people!

That means not just the amazing KDE Platform, but translations provided by the community, bugs reported by users, bugs triaged by volunteers, documentation provided volunteers, patches provided by the occasional contributor, and on and on... If the new KDE means anything, it absolutely means this.

Yes, absolutely, powered by people.

If it means people (and it will be clear that that is the case because of an icon/badge), then I also vote for it.

Cheers!

 Part of KDE family ftw!

Powered by KDE is more of a user’s phrase (I have a KDE powered sticker on my laptop) than a developer’s.

If I wrote an application I would prefer to be part of the KDE family instead of my efforts being "KDE powered".

Btw, I would love to see powered by KDE gear (t-shirts, hats, stickers, etc).

I agree in both subjects.

1+ part of KDE family
1+ powered by KDE gear (s)

-Built on the KDE Platform
It's not a "catchy" label.

-By the KDE Community
This is the best one in my opinion. Catchy and you see that it is made by the community, which is true :)

-Free Software by KDE
It's not really made "by KDE"

-Made with KDE technology
Also a cathy name, but it doesn't fit that good.

-Part of the KDE family
It's not really part of the KDE family. Well, in some aspects it is, but it's to vague.

-Powered by KDE
Catchy, but not that original.
