Hi, first please make sure you've downloaded the latest theme, and check if there exists ~/.themes/Aurora Smooth/index.theme, if true, remove it and choose Aurora Smooth again. I think the problem will have been solved by then.
Good luck!

I made sure it was the latest package - from may 27 2008.

secondly, these are the files in:

usr->share->themes->Aurora Smooth->gtk-2.0->"gtkrc"

only one file....called "gtkrc".

what's wrong?

But your screenshot shows that the scrollbar is white rather than blue, so I guess the gtkrc is not the latest one.
Please rm this file and replace it with the latest gtkrc, change your theme to anything else via Appearance Preference and then change it back.

And I picked the background color from your screenshot, it is #d4d4d4, the menubar is slimmer than the latest one, the scrollbar color is white... your gtkrc must be made around 05/19 according to my changelog. So I am pretty sure you have to replace it.

It's easy to change button layout via Emerald Theme Manager->Title Bar->layout->Normal Layout.
Paste the following string to the layout box:
U:IT:N(7)X(7)C:Normal Layout

Do you use gnome-panel? If true, right click on your panel, and click properties->background, you can choose a background pic for your panel.

As for conky, install it first with your pkg manager, then put .conkyrc in your home directory, and those fonts in ~/.fonts as well. Start conky via gnome-open.

Crispy script? Do you mean that patch? Well then you'll have to compile it yourself. It may be a little difficult for some popular distros like ubuntu.

Well, I know it won't satisfy everyone, it depends on the brightness of your monitor , your taste etc, but you can change the colors via Appearance Properties as you please.
