Looks best with globalmenu!
______________________________________________

My current vision of gnome :)

I tried to create a futuristic yet simple environment to
work in.
______________________________________________

A HUGE thank you to every user who commented
here and helped me shape this!!!
______________________________________________

info on and download the globalmenu here:
http://code.google.com/p/gnome2-globalmenu/

for a wallpaper that goes with the theme:
http://staford.deviantart.com/art/Technical-Method-5971201

I will ask artist taner if he is willing
to do a wallpaper that will be the default
wallpaper of this theme
this when he gets back in about 3-4 months
or so.

//Robert

Changelog:

0.1.1 now works without globalmenu hack
also.
should you have any problems running it with
or without it please comment :)

0.1.2 now installs as a "theme" (thanks
to harryNID for the script!)
this is the iconset it applies if installed:
http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/black-white+2+Style?content=72619

0.1.3 improved menues and pcmanfm tweaks,
look at the first screenshot.

0.2 Let's see what I remember... well
nobody reads this anyway so big deal,
fixed evolution, more integrated overall
look, changed some colors, made some new
icons, some other minor things.

 Previous version.

Hi, again me ;)
Did you do some backup of previous version? With 0.1.3 is an issue - xfce panel doesn't look like it should and previous menu looked better IMO. Thanks in advice.

Hmm, that's weird, could you post a screenshot
since I didn't change the base code for the
panel at all :)

The menues suck,,, I was running compiz when
I made them, with metacity they look awful.

Will do new ones to next release :)

Thanks!

hmm, Ic, the globalmenu uses menu style...
Are you sure you are using the latest version
of global-menu? since that only happened
for me with the "mac-menu" (before the code
re-write).

But then again, you are using xfce and I
haven't tested on xfce, (and I'm not planning
on installing it).

try this:

gedit $HOME/.themes/vision/gtk-2.0/menues.rc

line 26 - 33 should look like this:

image
{
function = BOX
state = NORMAL
file = "/toolbar/toolbar.png"
border = { 0 , 0 , 0 ,1}
stretch = TRUE
}

change it to:

image
{
function = BOX
state = NORMAL
file = "/panel/panel-bg.png"
border = { 0 , 0 , 0 ,0}
stretch = FALSE
}

Then reload the theme or restart x or whatever.

Let me know if it works!

PS. Nice wall and "gadgets" ;D

For sure, I've compiled all globalmenu packages again, without the supposed result, but... :) I've edited menues.rc and now it's working well ;) Thanks for the help.

Which "gadgets" do you mean? (conky?)

I've managed to fix this problem. Just add widget_class "*.<GtkTreeView>*" style "progressbar" and progress bars in TreeViews will look as good as real progress bars.

Thanks man!

Tho, I personally think that they look
kinda weird in the treeview if I use the
same style... maybe if I start to use a lot
of apps that have a treeview progressbar
I'll get inspired enough to do a second
progressbar style that looks good on
white background ;D

Thanks for the class man!
(so I have one less thing to figure out!)

Wonderfull theme, I like it so much! One issue though, spinbox buttons don't operate flawlessly. The upper one isn't pressed at all, and the lower is pressed but kinda weird. Can you fix it, please? Thanks, and keep good work!

Thank you very much!

As for the spinbuttons I don't have a problem,
if you mean that there isn't any effect
when clicking them then that could be true
since I just drag the mouse over the box
and use the scrollbutton so I never click
those buttons :)

if you want somekinda effect there I can
make one to next release, tho the buttons
work great :)

Thanks, man!

And one more issue, hope I don't bother you too much. Evolution's ugly dropdown button needs a workaround, since they have sucked with all the interface guidelines.

Here's how it looks like for me http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/4232/200805300129081280x1024nx0.png

No you don't bother me at all, I'm used to
people having problems with xul apps or
other non-gtk apps (like firefox , thunderbird,
open-office...... list is long) and the
problem really is that those apps don't
obey GTK+ Configuration (gtkrc) and therefore
the widgets get messed up!

I'm gonna be honest with you, I'll see what
I can do about it, but I'm not gonna spend
like a lifetime trying to solve it :)
(since it really is hard to fix)

Thanks for reporting tho!

I really appreciate any bugreports.

Haha! I just fixed the bug, and I gotta tell you.
If you know anything about gtkrc you are
gonna laugh!
this was the widget_class I had to theme
separately ;D

"*EShellWindow.GtkVBox.BonoboDock.BonoboDockBand.BonoboDockItem.InternalToolbar.BonoboUIToolbarControlItem.GtkVBox.BonoboWidget.BonoboSocket.BonoboPlug.EComboButton*"

It's a little looooooooong don't you think :D

Thank you for this phantastic theme!

Just two issues:

1. Dialogs with only the close button (that is without the minimize/maximize buttons) look bad, as the close button's left border looks "cut off".

2. Separators in pull down menus are not visible, which is bad.

Other than that great theme, thanks again!

Use the emerald theme to rid the button
problem, as for the separators I personally
don't want them on my desktop so I'm not
gonna put them there :)
(please feel free to edit the theme yourself
to have them if you wish!)

Hey Robert, thanks for the quick answer.

Is there somewhere a line in gtkrc to (un)comment in order to get back the separators? Any hint appreciated!

About Emerald: I don't (want to) use a compositor so I'll better stick with metacity and live with the small glitch. I suppose the problem is that you can't change the pixmap of the close button depending on the question whether there are any other buttons left to it, right?

I might get the metacity to work but right
now I don't have time to figure out how
to do it :)

to get ugly ass lines everywhere ;D

remove this (on line 357)

image
{
function = VLINE
recolorable = TRUE
file = "/lines/line-v-black.png"
border = {0,0,0,0}
stretch = TRUE
}

image
{
function = HLINE
recolorable = TRUE
file = "/lines/line-h-black.png"
border = {0,0,0,0}
stretch = TRUE
}

hope this helps!
