Description:

This is a very very black modification of
my slickness theme.
I made it cause someone here at gnome-look
asked if I could.

New feature since version 0.3:
You can now choose colors using gnome
theme manager.
It is my very first try at something like this so it might not work exactly as planned.

Feedback of any kind is always welcome :D

To fix browser problems go here:
http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Darkfix+%28+easy+fix+for+browsers+%29?content=74504

that fix will fix all your browser problems :)

A HUGE thanks to code933k for making it!!

!!!IMPORTANT!!!

To install:
1.Download the file to your desktop
2.Right click the file and select extract here
3.open a terminal and run these commands:
first:
sudo cp -r $HOME/Desktop/SlicknesS-black /usr/share/themes
second:
sudo chmod 777 /usr/share/themes/SlicknesS-black/Slickness-black.jpg

4.Open the theme manager, you can now
see the SlicknesS-black theme as a theme,
when you click on it , it suggests
taners amazing wallpaper he made for this theme!!
click apply to apply the wallpaper!

the icon theme it suggests is this one:

http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/black-white+2+Style?content=72619

any problems with the install let me know!!!!

One REALLY HUGE thank you to artist Taner
for his fantastic wallpaper!

Gerva has made a fix that fixes openoffice problems! :

Hi,

I have the latest version of this theme, but I don't have any icons in OpenOffice. How do I fix this. I see on your third picture it has icons.

If you look a little closer on the third
screenshot you'll understand what to do,
just click on (in oo) tools -> options ->
view and there select the icons, then appearance
and there fix the color problem.

(the third screenshot explains a lot)

hope this helps!

 Egads!

I followed the installation instructions, but it doesn't show up in my themes. I'm running ZenWalk 5.0. Any ideas why it doesn't show up or-better yet-how to get it to?

Hmmm, did you get any errormessage or
anything when running the command?

you could try to extract the package to
/usr/share/themes manually too.

hope this helps

Are you syre you are using metacity
window manager?

I haven't heard anyone else have any
problems with the border theme...

if you use compiz you could install emerald
and dload this one:

http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/SlicknesS+Emerald?content=73972

could you describe a little more what the
problem is since I cannot fix the problem
if I don't really know what it is :) ?

Okay. First off, I use Zenwalk 5.0-not sure if that'll help out.
To use a theme, I go to XFCE Settings Manager and choose "User Interface." When I choose Slickness Black, it changes everything but the titlebar. In order to change the titlebar, I have to exit out of "User Interface" and go into "Window Manager," where there's a section called "Style." Changing that changes the titlebar, and there's no style in there to match the titlebar in the screenshot.
Hope that helps.

Hi!

yes that helps!

The problem is that you are running
XFCE and not gnome, xfce uses another
window manager than gnome (not metacity)
I'm not sure exactly which one but the
theme here is for metacity (and then there
is the emerald one for those who use compiz)

I'm sorry to say but I have no clue on
how to port the border theme to xfce (
I would do that if I knew how to)
if someone knows how to do it and it's not
too much work then that would be great!

 white entry fields

by scooby on: Feb 20 2008

Score 50%

That is awesome that you went back and fixed most problems with wanting white entry fields and it seems to work perfect for me everywhere but in open office. All the text in buttons becomes black and you can't see anything until you hover the mouse over them. Also, all the pop up text when you hover the mouse over the buttons on the tool bars are black text on black background. (I wonder if there is a file somewhere you can tinker with this, like userChrome.css in firefox?)

Also, I have to admit, I love the shape of the scroll bars in the non-black version of slickness... Still, great theme though, among the best on this site.

yeah, that's a pain when fonts are unreadable,
I don't even have the openoffice.org-gtk
package installed myself (gnome-integration, uses the theme)
that gets rid of every problem,, however
I will try to fix it, but I can't promise
a fix any time soon since I don't have a
clue on where to start looking....

Thanks for reporting tho!
didn't know of that problem :)

And thank you for your kind words man!!!
