Updated:  Nov 19 2007

Description:

My first GTK2 theme. It's based on RoyaltyBlack. Metacity, panel background and start icon are included.

To make panel transparent go to panel options and choose panelbg_black.png as a background.

To use my start button run gconf-editor, go to: /apps/panel/objects/object_0/
choose custom_icon, set a path to startbutton.png and tick use_custom_icon .

There are still few bugs with font colours.

Changelog:

0.3
added metacity frames.
changed the font colour to make it more visible.
changed the background colour to less bright.
new scrollbars and progressbars
0.3.1
fixed a bug with a combo button.

 OpenOffice.org Crash

by ofir on: Nov 19 2007

Score 50%

First of all, this theme is the best black theme I ever seen!

Great job! ;)

I just wanted to inform you about a problem when trying to use this theme and OpenOffice.org
Every time I try to open a dialog in OOo, it just crashes.
What I can do about it, and why it happens

And one more thing, why applications run by root (like synaptic) don't use this theme? (or at least use the default theme [Human])

Regards,
Ofir

If you want apps like synaptic to use your custom installed themes you need to copy your ~/.themes/theme folder to /root/.themes/theme || Or just make a symlink.

Seems like it's a common ooffice bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/131526. I don't really know how to fix it. It happens with every theme i have installed on my pc. The funny thing is when i start ooffice from console it works well without any errors.
As for 2nd question. Just copy the theme to /usr/share/themes.

Thanks for the quick answer.

If this is a common bug, then I guess someone thinks how to fix it. So I just wait for the fix.

And, again, great theme!

Really nice and ergonomic design, except sliders. I will prefer to leave them in default behavior.

Really cool how you managed to match the menubar and the Metacity with the black-glossy thing, you really pushed the GTK theming features on this one. The menu highlights are pretty good too.

The theme is a bit slow because of the pixmaps. You could improve the theme turning it on a GTK engine, which generally is faster (and more flexible too). The theme has some compatibility issues too, with non-true-GTK apps (XUL apps), but that's not your fault (if you managed to turn it into an engine, the level of success on XUL apps may increase too).

Anyway, great job! Congratulations!

great job, man!

by the way, can you tell me what is the icon theme on the screenshot (it looks very nice)?

and can you do a white variation of this theme?.. I think a lot of people would be happy with this..
