Description:

GTK theme *and* engine intended to make GTK applications have a similar look
to the Keramik KDE style.

The theme, and pixmaps within, are based upon the alpha release of Keramik_GTK
by Goamaus. However, most pixmaps have been re-created, and/or modified.

Geramik requires QtPixmap >=0.26 (QtPixmap is no longer included in the Geramik archive. Get QtPixmap from http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=7043)

Screenshot 2 is of Mandrake's diskdrake - showing the recolouring of buttons.

To install:

tar zxvf Geramik-0.23.tar.gz
cd Geramik-0.23
./configure
make
make install (as root)

...then copy /usr/share/themes/Geramik/gtk/gtkrc to either /etc/gtk/gtkrc or ~/.gtkrc

...or for GTK2, copy
/usr/share/themes/Geramik/gtk-2.0/gtkrc to either /etc/gtk-2.0/gtkrc or ~/.gtkrc-2.0

Changelog:

0.27
----
1. Fix ThinGeramik horizontal scrollbar thumb.

0.26
----
1. Add "ThinGeramik" - GTK equivalent of ThinKeramik. This is the 1st version,
so will probably have some errors. Note: Menus in GTK2 apps will be the window
colour - can't figure out how to make this different!

(NOTE: *Requires* QtPixmap >= 0.26)

0.25... See "ChangeLog" in archive for previous entries...

This is beautiful. Can u also post pics of Gnome apps like Evolution running as well?

Ur post says Theme/Engine. Can it be used to with Mosfets liquid for GTK apps?

I don't actually use *any* GNOME apps. The only GTK apps I use are GIMP, and occaisonally XMMS and Mozilla.

As for Liquid - well this could be done, if you created a new gtkrc file and new pixmaps to match liquid's. As I said, then engine is just a modification of the standard GTK pixmap engine. So, using grey-scale pngs you should be able to mimic most styles. The only thing I can think of against mimiking liquid is that combo-boxes use 2 colours - the button and background colours. So you couldn't copy that exactly, but you could do most things.

 What about this?

Great work, you've outdone yourself on this one. However, considering most people use either liquid or keramik as their style, could a switch be implemented in the .gtkrc file, that checks for the KDE style that has been applied and configures the gtk app to load the apropriate widgets with the curent system color scheme applied. Or how about this;can the .gtkrc file interact with the system to obtain the current KDE style. Or, if that isn't possible, can a shell script be written that passes perameters (KDE style) to a new .gtkrc file that gets created on the fly when you launch a gtk application providing the application its' style and color scheme.

Sorry for being so long winded?

 Liquid

It would be possible (fairly easy) to create a Liquid like theme to use. The problems would be with pushbuttons, and combo-boxes.

But I suppose if I get time I could try to modify XLiquid to fit in with this - and chage it to use round buttons.

As for automatically changing, not sure about this. I think it'd be better to just use GNOME's control centre - or the GTK themeswitch app - to change the GTK theme.

I think I'd rather get this working better first, then try a GTK2 version, and then...

 gtk/kde themes

wouldn't it be cool if all the standard kde-styles could include matching gtk/gnome-styles? They could be lying in the same style-file that one instally using kcontrol. kcontrol could then automatically set up gnome/gtk to use the same style (maybe have a check-box "don't use kdestyle for non-kde/qt apps"). Same applies to icon's.

The problem with this is that my engine needs GTK to compile - which would then mean KDE depends upon GTK as well...

 Is that a problem?

gtk could be detected by autoconf and the functionality is only available if gtk is there. If you don't have gtk there is not much reason of having a theme for it, isn't there?
