Description:

I just wanted to make you all aware, that there is a GTK theme available that matches Mosfets High Performance Liquid KDE style very good.

Now you can have one Liquid style for more applications.

The download link goes to freshmeat, where you can find the theme called XLiquid GTK: http://themes.freshmeat.net/projects/xliquid_gtk/?topic_id=923%2C957

PLEASE NOTE THAT I'M NOT THE CREATOR OF THIS THEME.

This theme is not meant for beeing imported into KDE. KDE applications should use Mosfets High Performance Liquid Style.

This GTK theme is for GTK applications to look similar to KDE applications.

The How-To-Install instructions on KDE Look.org refer to a previous theme importer in KDE 2.x that never worked really good.

To make it work for GTK applications, extract the file to any folder (e.g. ~/.gtk_themes/). Then overwrite your ~/.gtkrc file with the file ~/.gtk_themes/XLiquid_GTK-1.0.1/gtk/gtkrc. Comment out the pixmap_path at the beginning of ~/.gtkrc and adjust the path to the directory, where you've extracted the theme to.

Now start a GTK application like GIMP. It should obbey to the XLiquid GTK style from now on.




Changelog:

Sorry for the frequent changes with no update. I have troubles with KDE-Look.org updating the thumbnail. Yesterday evening, it did not change to the new thumbnail, this morning it changed.

I'm not a fan of the Aqua/Liquid look (just not my preference), but thanks for providing the theme for those who like a little consistancy on their desktop.
And for anybody who's about to post, "But this is _KDE_-Look!" don't bother. I for one think it is a good idea to post GTK themes here if they match KDE themes. Makes life much easier.
Also, if anyone is curious, this is for GTK 1.2.

I like Keramik more than Liquid and I would love a Keramik GTK style.

However I love a unified Look and Feel more than a funky style. Previously I was using Motif style in all my application therefore.

Now I switched to Liquid and have most of my applications (but programs using other toolsets than QT or GTK) using almost the same style.

For GTK. It's already included in Gnome2.0 I think. At least Suse 8.1 includes it.

In what package can I find it? I don't see it listed in my theme list in GNOME 2 in SuSE 8.1. I installed all of GNOME, installed SuSE Liquid RPM.

This is a classic example of why Gnome and KDE users should work together instead of trying to dominate each other. Now the desktop is capable of having a unified look. Excellent work.

In the "how to" it says to click on the import GTK button under look and feel > styles, There is no import GTK button, at least not on my Mdk9 distro, How do I get around this.

under KDE, at least in my system, you have to open the GNOME configuration window (it's under system-->configuration in SuSE) to select Gtk themes. i still haven't figured out how to change the colors, though.

is there another way to get it to work?

Using Red Hat 8.0 with unified BlueCurve on my laptop. This now allows me to keep a unified look on my RH 7.3 desktop box. Was using Bubbles-Revisited as the Gnome equivalent to Liquid, now no need to. KDE and Gnome playing happily together and looking similar. That's what open source love is all about.
