If someone wants to do a different distro icon theme with my default cursors it will be nice to put every distro version in the same package, so please if your distro doesn't have a version already done and you want to contribute send me your work with all the sources!

Specification:
-all the files that you will need are in the "misc" folder.

Thanks for your contribution!

uhm....now im not trying to complain or anything, but how exactly do you go about installing these?
kde's control center doesnt recognize it as a 'valid cursor theme archive' and that leaves me with extracting it....

IT'd BE NICE IF YOU PUT SOME SORT OF DIRECTION IN THE PACKAGE?!

any help would be appreciated....

Guys, really, try to be a bit resourceful. Just go into the archive or extract the whole thing (bunzip2, tar -xvf), go into the "cursors" subfolder, select the cursor's directory you want (e.g. pDebian-32) and copy the whole subdir into your ~/.icons directory. Then start the kde control center, go into Peripherals->Mouse->Cursor Theme, select and Apply.

It's really no rocket science.

I must admit that I am finding the same problem. But I am VERY new to linux. Any additional instructions on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

 Apostrophe

Hello, could you please remove the apostrophe from the filenames (in the next release)? Apostrophes make handling these files with scripts unneccessary difficult.

 Not working here

I used this theme with the Slax liveCD, but can't get it to install on my desktop. L3v3nt3, it isn't a matter of where the cursors are, it's that KDE always gives an error that it's not a valid cursor theme archive.

Any step-by-step instruction would be appreciated.

Bah...finally found the extremely simple answer on the Ubuntu forums:

unzip the package, go into the cursors directory, copy the directories you want to the ~/.icons folder. They will then appear in the KDE Control Center. No need to install, they just can't be in the .icons/cursors/eachtheme directory.

Now I'm a happy guy!

 Work with KDE

KDE has an easy to use graphical dialogue that makes it easy for anyone to install X11 mouse themes... It might not be that hard to install these manually but thats not the point. How about working with the KDE team and the efforts they have made to make the desktop more friendly instead of against it ?

 Installing via Gnome

The proper way to install a cursor theme via gnome is:

Step 1 - Extract the cursor theme to ~/.icons

Step 2 - open up gconf and goto desktop/gnome/periferals/mouse and then edit cursor_theme to the one in ~/.icons

It has to be the same name as the theme folder in ~/.icons

b.Gates - Thanks to SCO hate mail has gone down by 22%!
