Description:

You won't find any other theme that has paid so much attention to detail, form, compactness, color, accessibility and usability as industrial-myst has. Every widget has been meticulously constructed for efficiency and productivity.

industrial-myst leverages Ximian's tested, trusted and renowned theme technology to provide a breathe taking desktop experience. Using your desktop will not longer be boring and drab. In addition, industrial-myst provides a complete icon set to complement the theme.

Courtesy of Ximian's powerful theme technology, industrial-myst is light weight, smooth and fast, especially when contrasted with the multitude of pixmap-based themes that litter the arena. Upon installing industrial-myst, you would immediately be consumed by a clean, polished and vibrant environment.

industrial-myst is a work in progress. It will continue to be maintained, refined, enhanced and polished until it is perfect. So do make sure you stop by frequently for updates. As a gesture of good faith and community, I only seek and value your feedback, suggestions, criticisms and advice.

Thank you for your time, and for using industrial-myst!

Note:Please remove your industrial-myst theme before installing newer versions. For GNOME users, your theme folder is located at ~/.theme. Simply remove or delete the folder named "industrial-myst" before installing the newer version.

I like it white, i like small widgets and i like it when it comes with a complete set of icons.
Summary: I like your theme a lot :-)

There's one problem though, i dont get the colors like they are supposed to be.
It's a lot darker here with a touch of yellow.
Do the colors come from your gtkrc or from the industrial-engine?
Do the colors work for other people?

Thank you very much for your feedback. :-)

With regards to the color issues, I was experiencing mysterious color problems myself while testing and making the theme. Can you post a screenshot of your desktop using the theme?

The color is handled by the gtkrc file. In particular, by the following field:

bg[NORMAL] = "#FFFFFF"

You might want to play around adjusting that field, and see if the bug still persists. You may try:

bg[NORMAL] = "#FEFEFE"

or

bg[NORMAL] = "#EFEFEF"

I have a strong feeling it is either a gtk+, industrial engine, or driver bug.

But I'll resume testing and post and update immediately I figure out what's wrong. This theme works great for me, but certain color combinations can screw things up. I'll look further into it.

Also, can you post your hardware specification, including your graphic's card spec, your distro?

Cheers

I noticed that the color-setting bg[NORMAL] has no effect with your and all other industrial-themes i have installed on my boxes (2xgentoo) but works as expected with other themes/engines.
So i guess there might be something wrong with my industrial-gtk-engine.
Maybe its not updated for gtk+2.5x or something.

That is very strange. If you have GNOME installed, then Gentoo should automatically installed the SVG rendering library for you.

In any case, do the following:

  1. Add svg to your USE flags.

  2. Install librsvg

  3. Reinstall GTK+

I hope that helps.

Good luck!

 Really nice

This theme is really nice, it takes industrial to a whole new level.
I especially like the new focus ring for text input fields -- it's unobstrusive and helps a lot visually.

However, now I'd like to see it everywhere I can enter text... For now the focus ring does not appear everywhere, e.g. :

- in evolution, on the "To:" line when you're writing an email
- in gossip, when you're typing a instant message to someone...
- in nautilus browser mode (I never use it, but hey) when you type an URL...

If you could fix these nitpicks it would improve consistency. Thanks for a great theme anyway :)

Cool, thanks.

While I'm at it, another minor nitpick :

When you select something in a list, and then select something somewhere else (eg select an email in evolution and then highlight a part of the email text) the "inactive selection" is very hard to distinguish from the other items. See a screenshot here :

http://members.cox.net/vnoel/shot_blam.png

The selected item on the left list is hard to make out. A darker or more distinct color would help.

Cheers

 wrong permission

I've been testing theme since it was originally posted here, and I noticed that in all the releases, the permissions of the gtkrc are set to "-rw------- ", which means that if I try to install this theme globally (/usr/share/themes, for example), only root will be able to use this theme.
