Really Slick CF (Late Beta)

   0.96

Compiz Theme

Submitted:  Dec 29 2007

Description:

Because the settings aren't even close to finalized or stable (things could drastically change), this will be a "beta." Basically, I'm just getting sick of being "nervous" about not sharing this profile... it's pretty nice, IMO.

These are some really slick settings for Compiz Fusion. The focus: taking advantage of all the features Compiz Fusion has to offer to deliver the 'best' eyecandy as weighed by usability, reliability and visual cleanliness & "neatness" :) You'll have to try it to get what I mean, but this gives 6 desktops, transparency on move and a LOAD of other stuff.

HowTo:

*) open Advanced Desktop Effects Settings (ccsm) from the preferences menu (in the main menu).
*) Click 'Preferences' on the bottom left.
*) Save a kitten from dying: select 'Flat-file Configuration Backend'
*) create a new profile with the '+' and name it something obvious ('Really Slick (Beta)' for example...)
*) Click 'Import' and browse to the file... click 'Open' and the settings are live.

Changelog:

0.96 - 2nd "Beta" release
0.95 - "Beta" release

License:
This is a text file with settings, it would be silly to license it. Do whatever you please with it.

These are Compiz Fusion settings. It's not a "theme," really, so it's whatever your desktop currently "looks" like but with these Compiz Fusion settings.

Keep up the good work guys ^_^ Everyone who uses GUI appreciates nice themes :D

Already spent countless hours tinkering with Compiz on my own - this would have been invaluable if it was available when I first installed it in Feisty Fawn. More people should make use if the profile feature in Compiz, it'd save a lot of forum posts "How do I get... plugin working?", etc. Good work.

p.s. For the less fainthearted, perhaps you should pop a list of the effects enabled/disabled, or a realistic PC spec needed to run said plugins?

Whenever AMD adds support for the HD3870X2 I'll get back into updating the profiles :) Yes, I can put a "Recommended Specs" list or something of the sort on here, but not until I can get in and mess around with it hands-on. :)

Thank you for the feedback :)

Yeah, so, 9 months later my card was finally supported, but now I don't even use Linux anymore (X.org should die in a bloody massacre). So... if you or someone else wants to post a system requirements or get a list of all the enabled stuff, be my guest and I can add it to the description. Other than that... yeah... this is pretty much it now.
