QtPixmap

Theme/Style GTK 1.x

Submitted:  Jul 16 2003
Updated:  Feb 16 2004

Description:

This is a hacked/modifed version of the original GTK pixmap engine - which has been modified to obtain widget colours and fonts from ~/.qt/qtrc. This means that GTK apps should follow the KDE colour scheme.

This is the Gtk engine used in Geramik, and will be required for *all* Geramik versions >=0.25 (Bascically I'm seperating the theme and engine to make it easier to update just Geramik, or just QtPixmap).

To install:

tar zxvf QtPixmap-0.26.tar.gz
cd Geramik-0.26
./configure
make
make install (as root)

To use:

I've included a text file called "Usage", which details the QtPixmap specific changes. (You need to know how to use the GTK pixmap engine for the rest).

I have been following your work here and at kde lists, and I want to say thank you for your work. please, keep integrating GTK apps to the KDE desktop.
I think QtPixmap and GtkQt are great aditions.
Do you think I should add this as a wish, and vote for it? Would this help convincing developers that it is a good idea?

Can we simply use QTPixmap theme instead of the regular pixmap for all gtk themes?

GtkQt could include a Gtk theme switcher, to find similar themes that do not share the same name. Or I can do this research for you and give you a list.

Cheers!

Add what as a wish? Sorry, I don't understand what you're asking for.

As for simply repacing "pixmap" with "qtpixmap" in normal gtk themes - well this wont quite work as expected. You first need to convert *all* pixmaps to greyscale, and then in the gtkrc file you need to say what KDE colour setting ("button", "background", "selected", etc) to apply to the pixmap.

GtkQt does include a list of a few matching themes - see the "qtstyle2gtkstylerc" files. But, yeah I 'd be very grateful if you feel like creating a list.

 What a good idea

so developpment of engine and themes are on their own way.

It is very promising for newer GTK themes for KDE.

And I hope someone will soon do a GLiquid theme base on the new AquaX+.

Thanks again for the good work.

You may be better asking Mosfet for a copy of the png files used to create liquid.

If you need any help with the QtPixmap engine, let me know, and I'll help as best I can.

 Problems with gtk2.6

I recently upgraded gtk to version 2.6 and gtk-engines to 2.6.0 and i'm having problems starting my gtk1 applications which use a skin trough qtpixmap. Is anyone else having the same problem ? Is there any easy way to solve this problem or do i have to wait for a new qtpixmap version ?
