Description:

Original cursor theme was by JJ-Ying on deviantART (http://jj-ying.deviantart.com/art/Azenis-Cursors-243384632).

Although there was a X11 cursor theme based on Azenis, I am dissatisfied with the result, which didn\\\'t make full use of the 48x48 original graphics.

This version of Azenis cursors come with 8 sizes.

Your Azenis cursor enhancement looks very nice!

However, it would be very helpful if you could include detailed installation instructions, including how to change the cursor size, if Compiz is enabled.

Thanks for sharing your work!

INSTALL INSTRUCTION

If you have root permission and want your cursor to be available to all users, unzip and put the Azenis directory at /usr/share/cursors/xorg-x11/. Alternatively, put it at ~/.icons/.

ABOUT CHOOSING THE THEME IN COMPIZ

I do not use Compiz so I cannot provide detailed information. Actually I uploaded my cursor theme from KDE-look... Anyway, cursor themes are something that should work across all desktop environments.

You may want to look at the screenshot in http://askubuntu.com/questions/38375/how-do-i-enlarge-the-mouse-pointer-cursor .

FURTHER NOTE ON AVAILABLE SIZES

I provide mouse size 16,24,32,40,48,56,64,72. Note that 48 is the original size so larger sizes are somewhat blurry. These super large sizes are included only because modern screens tend to have wonderful resolutions and traditional sized cursors often look too small.

I plan to apply some sharpen filter in the future but right now it's just a simple Lanczos resizing.

Hi,

Thanks very much for your detailed response. My problem is that I cannot live without Compiz but it has a bug that makes it difficult to change the mouse cursor theme. To do so I have to edit the /usr/share/icons/default/index.theme file by remarking out the Name line under [Icon Theme] and adding Inherits=Azenis. This works fine but I haven't found a way yet to change the size of the cursor, which I would like to do. Normal methods such as the one in the askubuntu link will not work. Thanks anyway for your input.

Thanks for sharing your work!

Hi, I have produced a special version where the mouse size is not selectable. It will stick at 48px, the original designed size.

It can be found at:
http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=165331

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your responsiveness and creating a new theme with the larger mouse pointer size. 48x looks good, however, it's too large for my desktop. Is there an easy way to edit this theme to reduce it to a fixed 32x size?

Thanks for sharing!

There is an easy way: http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=165448.

However, since I'm not at my Linux box, I cannot confirm that this 32px version works. Please tell me if it doesn't work.

By the way, you may also want to look at http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Azenis?content=104666, the welcomed Azenis cursor uploaded by another guy. He also had 3 different colors to offer. (I also have different colored versions but these are too large to upload...)

Since my whole point is that he seemed to only offer 32px version and I think keeping the original 48px is better, maybe his version will simply serve you well :)
