| Experience: | Previous Employment
Summer Vacation 2011,12 –present,
Harvest Lab Assistant, Camgrain
Camgrain is a cereal and grain storage Co-operative that tests, cleans and processes incoming arable produce before distributing it to the client for the farmer.
Tasks included: handling the contracts for delivery to major clients, proficiently testing for mycotoxins to ensure that the crops were within safe pesticide margins, this involved complex equipment and technology. I maintained a database of incoming product and its placement, compiling a correct classification of produce in terms of ownership and quality. The position involved working in a team of 20 people on a daily basis in a high intensity environment with a demanding work schedule; 12hr shifts for 6 days per week, often exceeding a 72hr working week. Through this experience I have been able to demonstrate an eye for detail, the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. I was given the responsibility of training and organising others in my second summer of employment.
2007 – 2011 Party Leader, Tumbledowns Children’s playcentre
Tumbledowns is a children’s indoor soft playcentre with an adjoining café that provides entertainment and hosting for children’s birthday parties.
Tasks included: Responsible for booking and hosting children’s birthday parties, frequently worked in the café space, preparing or serving food and drink. I gained a wide variety of experience in this position particularly in satisfying demanding customers of all ages. I joined the centre shortly after it first opened, so I was often in charge of training and supervising new staff. I was frequently entrusted to cash-up the tills and shut down the premises, demonstrating my trustworthiness. I am trained and competent in food hygiene and first aid specific to young children, was awarded ‘employee of the month’ several times.
July 2010/ June 2011
Waitressing/hospitality staff, Branham Horse Trials/ Newmarket Racecourse,
I waitressed for large scale formal dinners, race nights and corporate hospitality events. Through this role I gained experience in a field that was totally new I therefore had to learn the ropes very quickly. Also, it improved my capacity to work in a, fast-paced environment in which the delivery of a high standard of customer service was critical.
July 2009
Work Experience, Trinamite Productions (film production company), London
During a four-week college experience placement, I constructed promotional databases for various film festivals, including Sheffield Doc Festival where the company’s film won an award. Working within a small team, I was responsible for raising awareness prior to the premiere of the film, this improved and consolidated my communication and organisational skills as I had to speak to, persuade and inform potential clients, including the head of BBC HD.
