| Ubuntu Look and Feel

Friends,
I prefer Gnome over KDE or XFCE because of its simplicity and polished looks. Unfortunately there are very few themes which are fast and nice looking. One of them is Nimbus from Sun Microsytem.
I am currently using Nimbus 0.0.12. I was looking for its dark variant for night time. But was not able to find it over the net. Is there way by we which i can edit this theme to look dark?
After going through nimbus theme gtkrc i realized that most of the components are fetched from engine itself, which i am not able to edit.
Has anybody tried this earlier?
If yes please let me tell me how to do it... |

I was in fact expecting nice sleek theme in hardy but got disappointed. I needed to go back to sun's nimbus again, which is really good looking and much faster as compared to other themes.
Recently i stumbled on Brad's ubunut mockup. I am sure ubuntu is capable of achieving this. You can have a look...

Friends! my best wishes to all.
I am a proud user of Ubuntu 8.04 AMD Box from Pune.
I started with Fedora moved on to Suse and then to Debian but I think something or the other was missing everywhere. I found Ubuntu much more complete. In terms of Philosophy as well as in terms of usability.
Hope I will be able to do some value addition.
