 ObjPrelink-Debian...

Hi all !

Yes, KDE 3.0 is better. But not concerning speed on my computer : when I compile it, it is slow and when I use objprelink, this simply hangs up at start time !
Please help me : I've a Duron 800Mhz and I've tried
./configure --enable-objprelink
on each package... I've even tried to set CFLAGS to -O3 to see... and only a big "NOTHING" happens...

Regards

hey, I'm using KDE3 on a 500MHz machine, and it is fast as hell... and no, I didn't do anything special, just installed the RPM's...It's not as fast as icewm or some other mini-desktop, but hey, if you want kde, then live with the fact that it uses more of your system resources..

no offence, but I just don't understand how kde3 can be slow on your system..

:( :( :(

I am very disappointed with KDE 3. As well as konqueror crashing every second, in the end i couldn't even get it running as it would freeze on 'Initializing system services'.

I'm now going to have to reinstall my distro.

KDE 3 still needs vigorous testing, it should not have been released as a landmark release yet.

Still, I'm sure it'll get better.

Can't wait... ;)

 KDE rock solid

I've found distro's like Mandrake cause it to crash.

I installed and compiled Gentoo Linux, X, KDE3 and the whole system is solid, even konquerer.

KDE3 reminds me of Windows 3.0 - the breakthrough everyone wanted.

KDE3.1 will be even bigger...

 Mandrake?

I'm running KDE 3 on Mandrake and I've had an up time of about 3 weeks since the install. I realy think it could be hardware issues with most people not the distributions. If you really want to point fingers out there read a lot of the forums about suse. Well in any case 3.0.1 is coming out sometime in the next weeks and bye keeping up on the mailing lists you'll find that there's a ton of bug fixes. Dirk is doing a great Job!

I have KDE3 installed on a Mdk81 system,and is solid as a rock.
I think that is definitely better than kde2.
