Makes sense, however there are 10 possible answers at most. So if you do not use Mac OS X, simply do not vote.

I used Mac OS X when it first came out on some G4's at my local community college, I must say that it was pitifully slow. Of course, I dont know what the specs for the machines were, such as the ammount of RAM or what Graphics Cards were installed, but KDE is pretty quick on my old P3-733, 256MB and GF2 GTS card.

Hi,

I don't know, with which version of OS X you did make your experience. OS X got a speed boost from version 10.1 to 10.2 ("Jaguar") and another from 10.2 to 10.3 ("Panther"), but I agree, KDE is in general a little bit more responsible.

But you must see, that OS X has an other "window server". You have transparencies everywhere. You can have transparencies with Mosfet's Liquid an others, but I doubt they're faster than OS X. And look at the Exposé feature. It's really fast. I've seen the Exposé-clone for Gnome (Expocity) on a 1,4GHz Pentium-M. It was awful slow.

Because I use and know both systems (KDE 3.2 on my Athlon-900 and OS X on my Apple Powerbook G4), I think, the advantages of OS X are others:

- Consistent GUI (same Keyboard-Shortcuts for almost every application) and Human Interface Guidelines
- Good integration of applications (i. e. use music of the iTunes music app in the iMovie film app seamless)
- Good integration of cellular phones (sync with adress book and organizer app)
- excellent support for notebooks (powermanagement, WLAN)

I think, KDE/Linux lacks here, especially in the both last points, but I'm sure there will be good solutions in the future (kdepim 3.3, xfreedesktop).

KDE actually runs on OS x because OS x is just FreeBSD with Apple's Aqua GUI on top.
