 Why shall Microsoft

do that? MS is not interested in Cross Platform Development, they have their own Toolkit, which is better as long as you only develop for Windows (but according to MS you shouldn't develop for other platforms anyway), QT has been already partially been release under the GPL, so MS cannot close it,...

I see no reason for that. Even if MS buys Trolltech just to get rid of it, what sense should this make? Trolltech is absolutely nothing compared to MS.

Desktop Linux is also a greater threat
to Microsoft. And at the rate of which
KDE is improving day by day and its
popularity, MS would definitely use its
$$ weapon ( like SCO's case ). And Qt
might be the first one to attract them.

Anyway 'KDE Free Qt Foundation' might
disappoint them.

Sorry! A wrong sentence formation!
It would've been better if I said
'Microsoft would first eye on Qt'
instead of
'Qt might be the first one to attract them'

So what? I they kill KDE by acquiring Trolltech, there's still Gnome, which we may not like as much as KDE, but is still way better than any other desktop on the earth.

And Microsoft can't buy GTK.

So they won't kill Linux on the desktop. All they may be able to do is to jeopardize KDE, but that's just a very small part of all WindowManagers and Applications for Linux and sorry,... the drawback will not be big, although we all will have to get used to Gnome instead of KDE.

However I even doubt, that they will be able to kill KDE. A GPL'ed version of QT has been released and there's nothing Microsoft can do against that. All they can do is to prevent Trolltech from maintaining and extending QT. But then there is still the community that can work on the GPL'ed QT stuff.

So Microsoft will never be able to kill the GPL'ed QT, just the commercial QT. However I don't care about the commercial QT.

Yup! You are right dear!

With this poll I just wanted to direct people to ''KDE Free Qt Foundation Announcement'"
who are not aware of it yet. And try to clear some nagging doubts about using it,
if they had any.

Infact I gave it as a link in the very first option itself, thinking that those who are
unaware of it will go directly to that url. Unfortunately the url is tooo big for the
input box i guess, the first option appeared only half. So I took it out there and added it
as a comment.
