 Programming...

... we all at work use KDE+Quanta plus for PHP/Mysql/Xsl coding. And we're damn happy with those! Windows just has no applications that could replace Quanta and provide beautiful configurable interface of KDE! Better TCO, too. huh :)

HTML/CGI/PHP/SQL etc. is NOT programming. It's scripting, and there is a hellova difference between the two.

HTML is not scripting :)
And btw, PHP is a lot more programming than any CGI script ever will be (still you're right, it's a scripting language using a runtime interpreter) :)
Nitpicking is fun, no? ;)

Why is scripting not programing?

In both cases you are using a language. The only difference is how it is executed.

You know that CGI's can be coded in C/C++? So that's not programming.... uhmmmm tell me the difference.

I'm a little bit astonished that almost nobody is doing graphics on his KDE Desktop. Where are all the wallpapers coming from? ;-)

Somebody is... it's 1% now.

Maybe the rest pushes bits in code... Compile as PNG or something, any bugs would show up as some abstract art

i use my box for surfing the web, listening music, writing assignments both code or essays...

... on the poll, 'gaming' isn't one of them?

i admit Linux boxes on the whole don't have much of gaming to it unless all of us configures WineX in every box; but it's still a valid category, for one, the little K toys are overflowing its submenu.

I'm still learning programming, but it's way easier to learn using KDE or any Linux window manager for that matter. I especially like using Kate for writing source code since it has syntax highlighting which makes my programs easier to read and easier to find/correct errors.
