still has problems, and qt4 applications in general are lacking... i'm getting really pissed off when i have to see qt3 apps running in KDE4 :( esspecially because no programs like "qtk-qt engine" are in existence for qt3-qt4.

btw, KDE team, awesome job done :)

Way beter than KDE 3.5 in visual and simplicity appearance, but worse in PIM and other general tasks.

Absolutely better than KDE 4.1 in all aspects.

We defenitly need desktop icons back.
those desktop folders are very annoying.
the folder "desktop" still is in the home directory, so why no desktop icons?

it also would be cool to have 2 or 3 rows in the taskbar section again, like in the kde 3.5 kicker.

KDE 3.5 is still the way to go. why release newer kde 4 versions when KDE 4 itself is not stable and really usable.

Then you haven't tried KDE 4.2 yet. There you can have the desktop icons back.

Oh and regarding the rows of the taskbar... once again - try KDE 4.2. It's all in there

I'm using 4.2 RC1 (4.1.96) right now and it's still kind of an bumpy ride. Don't get me wrong, it's way better then 4.0 or even 4.1 but I'm looking forward to see 4.3 and hope it will work as I expect an stable desktop environment to work.

Cheers,
shadzik from the PLD-Linux Team

 Great work, minor issues.

Personally I think 4.2 is excellent, with just a few minor bugs. Knotify seems to hang the system for a few seconds when things are popping up. Mainly with incoming messages through kopete. Powersaving and the screen saver from desktop options need to link together. As it is even when i turn the screensaver off powerdevil keeps turning it on when the system is idle. When i shut powerdevils screen control off, it doesnt actually turn off. So the screensaver comes on when im watching movies about every 30 minutes.
Overall though, its clean, it looks good, i have all my desktop icons in the folder view plasmoid (lots of new config options for this too, which i like) resized to a nice vertical scrolling window. Desktop isnt cluttered at all, and looks great. Apps are very stable, no crashes of any kind. I like the taskbar having multiple rows now, autohiding, resizing, etc. Great great improvements there. Now if someone would set an 'anchor top left, right or center' type option to the picture viewer so half the image wouldnt disappear to the next desktop when it cycles from a vertical to horizontally aligned pic, id be all set. Kudos and thanks to everyone working on and clearly significantly improving KDE 4.
