 I'm old...

but I act young. :)

I didn't discover computers till I was 34 (1994).

I first discovered Linux in 1999.

I started off with Mandrake (now Mandriva). After that, RedHat & SUSE.

Then starting in 2001, I took a "Linux hiatus". I "came back" in 2004. Starting off with SUSE, then Fedora, Ubuntu, Debian, Ubuntu (again) and whatever suits my mood (Virtual Machines are great).

Ubuntu has been my primary OS since early 2005.

I'm a 16-years old girl and I discovered Linux in Febuary this year. Before that, I used windows 2000 and I was a complete computer ignorant. Then I read some articles about Linux and I decided to change my OS to Mandriva 2007 :) It was like opening my eyes at last. I don't regret my choice at all-in fact, I made a couple of my friends use Lunix as well ;) Now I want to be an information scientist :D

I first discovered linux (redhat linux) in 1997, I was not exactly a pro when it came to computers at that point in my life (I was 12 at the time). Since then I was reintroduced to linux by a good friend. I started out with distos like mandrake, lindows, etc. Now I use gentoo have done for three or four years now I can't see this ever changing, the vast setup time is well worth it in the long run and I'm able to do almost anything I want with it which is something ubuntu puts out of my reach. I'm now 22 and I can't see my use of linux changing any time soon.

 Linux

Im 31 and got into linux via a chance event - a friend at a place i used to work at had some cds of Mandrake and I installed it and was hooked - however I have been completely free of M$ for just over a year - I made the move to Linux because i really really hate monopolistic companies who want to rule the world and can fatten their wallets by charging you what they like - and M$ is a truely an evil corporation - (Thank God for Google and Linux)

Good to read that some are opening the eyes of their friends to an alternate OS.

Currently I am using Gentoo.

Cheers
Shelton.
