Well, I kind of don't remeber well, but I used a pre 1.0 (0.9.8 I belive), then later 1.0 and when 1.1 comes out I lemember thinking that the new K icon was much nicer :)

But I really started using it when installed redhat 6 on my old 233 (that now runs mdk 9.0)

 eh... KDE 2

by DrakingMan on: Dec 16 2002

started with that, I didn't like KDE 1
and used Gnome instead since it lacks
many (among which is wheel, which I grew
accoustant to because NT and GTK supported
it natively)

but that was then, KDE 2 had so many
improvement, then I forced some RPM for
KDE 3 and the Mandrake 8.1 systems I have
became a KDE 2/3 hybrid (???) it was cool

now 9.0 came with KDE 3; the only thing
that is lacking is a QT browser using Gecko,
but that is a small issue anyway

well, a gui-wrapper around gimp written in qt/kde qould be better, as the gimp is an immense program, which does all you could ever ask for (almost :), and a gui-wrapper would have to be easier and quicker, wouldn't it?

open source development

but how about contributing to the wine project to make adobe photoshop run under linux? then we have all the stuff in a user friendly package (and wine runs just great under kde :) )

What's wrong with just using the GIMP? You have a bunch of gtk/qt themes that match nowadays, so if you're obsessed with looks, that's not a problem. Otherwise, the GIMP is fine (not that there's anything wrong with GTK either). I see no reason to duplicate such a massive amount of effort

 Decent vect ed prog?

by whp on: Dec 18 2002

Do You know any decent vector edit prog? I am not thinking about cutes like sodipodi, sketch, nor impress. Well they are good, but in raster imaging world there is GIMP (comperable with photoshop). I found Artstream, but it needs very old libstdc++ (I supose). And it is not GPL nor OpenSource, but commercial. I saw some good initiatives from KDE developers so I am waiting full of hope. And one thing more my KOntour (KDE 3.0.3) is VERY buggy. I cant even draw a line. Is it common or I am just to dump to work it out.

OT: Non-kde user and old-kde user...

...look at kde-look most often. Why? Because non-kde percentage was 10% and now is 5% and kde3 percentage was 15% and now is 25%.

Cheers
