What we need is anti aliased icons and a decent icon set.

GNOME has this and this is one of the big reasons IMHO, that GNOME looks so sexy.

Alpha blending is a very cool thing.
And i don't want to read here again
that KDE users shouldn't want all features of other os. The fact that mac
os has a very good alpha blending support (earlier than kde) and Windows Xp doesn't matter - KDE had a. blending for icons earlier than Win XP and the first one was Mac os i think (right ?). So every os "steals" or better lends features by other os or projects. A lot of things i saw in Win XP remembered me to kde - this login manager, and so on.

I think every major KDE version will have new features (so it was every time in the past) and why shouldn't it have this cool eyecandy - Alpha Blending for the mouse and so on ... ?

yes, alpha blending is very cool and can lead to some very nice eye candy as well as usability enhancements.

not having alpha blending immediately has nothing to do with Not Invented Here syndrome, though.

most of the wait for alpha blending is due to XFree86 since that is the layer where alpha blending must be supported for it be done with any sort of reasonable speed (yes, even on new PIIIs software alpha blending is too slow)

that said, there are often good reasons for not wanting every feature of every other OS: some of those features are plain bad, some don't make sense for KDE and there are only so many developer hours available to KDE.

as for the flooding: someone obviously voted several hundred times for alpha blending in the span of a few hours. this kind of makes the polling system useless, now doesn't it?

won't please me anyway ;-)

I want:
1.
Konqueror as a cdrecord-frontend.
strg+b = burn-cd
should split the window as I have seen it from Nero.
Including a nice mask for CD-Text[CDDB](for cdrecord: How about burning udf, playstation etc..)


2. A new kicker like a "Toblerone" *gg* (hope at least Europeans know what that is) Just a middleclick to rotate and see other nice features.

3. A nicer AOL-Instant-Messaging Client than Kit.
Even gaim and kinkatta have now filetransfer, access to german official chats, no direct connection (How about playing mpg and flash in the IM-Window, when yoou recieve it via direct connection? [perhaps as a child of the konqueror])



So if you're bored, just do this :-)

Unfortunately pixie doesn't work for me anymore.Yesterday i downloaded the kdegraphics source of kde 2.1 and compiled pixie.I only did a "make install" in the pixie directory.Pixie starts normal but after using some filters they don't work anymore. I get a "Pixie Plugin Error" it says "Cannot dynamic load the plugin for this effect! The plugin name is libkif_magick". This is sad.Pixie wasn't a little tool anymore. It had cool features and started to become "the kde graphics manipulation app.The way it works is very efficient. :-( manor

Well, at least as for an image viewer, try feh. It is much better than pixie and offers a lot of command line features.
