While I do in fact report all bugs I find in KDE, they first stay on a queue which now has 185 bugs. In this queue every bug consists of a one-line description, which I can write whenever I want for less than half a minute. However, I actually start releasing the reports into the public tracker only when I feel I have the time and patience to go through the tedious process.

To tell you frankly, the queue doesn't stop growing; I add, like, 3 bugs a day, but I report 3 bugs a week. bugs.kde.org really needs to be rethinked. And Sebastien Laout already did so, but his very good suggestions for a bugs.kde.org reform were rejected. Too bad I can't find where they were, so as to support him.

I voted "not usable enough".

Agreed. Most of the bugs I've reported have languished for years now :/ That said, a few have been fixed, and it's obvious that KDE somehow progresses without addressing these things, which is hard to be really upset about :D

I am a frequent bug reporter and a lunatic that works with beta-grade code as soon as it's out - but I get seriously frustrated when bugs, wishes and pleads get ignored or dismissed because the maintainer feels like it.


I do accept that KDE developers' ressources are limited. Questionable attitudes towards bug reporters, such as comments like "develop this for yourself" or "learn c++" are poisionous to more user participation in the KDE bug reporting process.


Again: I'd pay money for #1015 in REGULAR kde (got the patch working)

I can see the developer's problem with the 109938 bug.
2 of the patches I have no clue what file they are suppose to patch.
the other 2 are ones that must be applied by hand.

all 4 are actually worthless to me and the amarok devs because I'd have to personally figure out how to make each change which is basically just the same as implementing it from scratch myself.

The problem I have with the 10998 bug is not wheter the patches are useable or not, but the more than annoying behaviour of amarok - I actually do hear some of those webradios, but I have to search them in ca. 20 stations I do not like, do not hear and would be more than glad to get rid of.

"People are dumb, don't give them choice, this actually is a feature.", the reason given for making the coolstreams read-only, is the Gnome way, and that's one aspect of what I called "suspicious attitude by developers".

BTW: IMHO, a bug tracker should be before all a pointer to problems, where "normal users" report problems they stumbles upon. It is kinda pretentious to expect syntactically perfect patches from bug reporters. This is what developers ought do: the actual thinking.

Do not misinterpret me: Most of KDEs developers are a wonderful bunch of people, and I appreciate every step taken to give normal users like myself a superior computing experience. I do accept that I am in no position to tell anyone of you what to do, code or eat next. I just want to make clear why lots of my peers have given up on reporting bugs - its the way they or their bugs are being handled.

yes many of my bugs are ignored .

because mentioning bugs/crashes/etc. in #amarok is easier.

If a developer thinks that a bug report will help, I can then add one.
