I believe it will probably be about April next year for 4.0.

So KDE4 will have an Answer release in the same way that KDE3 had a Pi release?

Would be fun. "KDE - the question for the answer" :)

It is not the size of the hammer that counts. It's how you wield it.

 Not trolling but

you know I really cant get excited over Apple Mac/Os. the equipment is quality and looks good, the OS is pretty, smooth and stable... but the one-button mouse drives me nuts and there is so little flexibility.

By compareison I find KDE so much fun and better at doing the things I like to do.

I think it will set new standards, and will give Vista and OS-X a run for their money.

The thing about Vista, is that it is all bloaty eye candy... there is no intuitiveness, no flexibility. It's all looks, nothing more (all the so-called "innovation" was removed so they would make the deadline that they won't be making anyway).

OS-X is stable, I think, and pretty to some (not me) but not very intuitive. Like Microsoft, they took the "assume the user is a moron" and "too many options confuse the user" too far. Plus, as most of the OS is open-source anyway, it makes you wonder what corporate programming hours are spent on.

When Jobs said, "Redmond, start your photocopiers" I thought it was largely ironic - nearly all the "innovation" in OS-X was done by open-source programmers, not by Apple. So why buy Apple when you can get it all for free from the o/s community?

KDE developers have built something highly intutive, flexible and easy to use. They have done this on their own. They do so quietly, but confidently. I think the whole project is surely something to be proud of, and that their dedication will bring major and wonderful changes to the desktop arena.
