There isn't a perfect energy source of the future. It allways depens at which location at for what application you want to produce energy. If we can learn anything from the past, than it is that we have to use several sources. Big projects and very small once, solar, wind, water, biogas, geothermal power and so on.

Some words on Nuclear Fusion Energy. Today reactors for a deuterium-tritium fusion are beeing built. To get deuterium from nature isn't that hard, but tritium is mere impossible to find. What you have to do is to mine lithium and to turn it into tritium in the reactor. An other negative aspect is, that you still have to deal with radioactive material. But don't worry that much, in advanced reactors only elements with a half-life period of several thousand years will be produced and they won't be applicative for nuclear weapons.
A fusion reactor is also very complex and expensive thing. It won't be the ultimative solution, because you still have to conquer so many things and it still doesn't produce that much energy as many people think. A windmill is very simple, long-living and produce much energy. In few cases it can be a great solution.
There is no doubt that Fusion Reactors will work in the future, but don't think that it is such a great solution for everything! Only big companies will be able to operate such reactors, and only in rich and high-developed countries. We all will depende on this companies and pure countries from rich once (as it is today).

Save energy is the only mean for mankind to hold as long as possible. Anyway energy get wasted, one mess up with nature.

Remember, Entropy is one way only.

When i learned at the chair of the plasma physics, I heard always, that there is nothing good except the fusion (well, water also is need:)). Well, but my 'colleagues' who learned at the adjoining chairs, e.g. at the chair of microelectronics -- they believed that ideas of fusion are dead and the only way to go on live is to build lots of solar battaries.

there are a bunch of new advances in solar technology that people aren't aware of, and aren't taking advantage of. for example, good solar panels are usually made of crystalline silicon. that makes them difficult and time-consuming to produce, and very fragile. but there are some new metal-based semiconductors that are a lot tougher, can be produced in sheets quickly and cheaply, and are almost as efficient as the best silicon panels.

fusion and breeder-reactor nuclear are possibilities, but there's politics and the sheer complexity of the devices to consider. until either of them can be produced cheaply and with less environmental impact, i don't see them coming.

windows on a mac? who the hell would want to do that?
