My Good ol Multimedia Keyboard has lots of keys I couldn't really find a use for. Luckily I can easily assign them to open my most used apps

 Katapult

I have some hotkeys for common applications.
If I don't have a hotkey for an application, I use Katapult to launch it.

 not surprising

90 percent of the time I start an application it is konqueror or konsole. For these I do have a button on kicker to get quick access.
Then it is easy to start any appropriate application using these apps.

For applications, one only starts daily, using "run command" applet is faster than using the application menu.

The application menu is then only usefull when one is looking for an application he or she doesn't know the name or even the existence...
