 Kernel

I'm running vanilla 2.6.10 right now with a few patches because for some reason 2.6.11 locks up my keyboard and mouse on startup on my Inspiron 5100

I made a little script to run dmesg > /logkernel and then self destruct but there seems to be no errors.

I hope this doesnt mean i'll be stuck here forever :(

I always use gentoo patched kernel. It has most of the patches I need. Since 2.6 branch I switched to gentoo-dev-sources.

-> FreeBSD4/5 kernels
-> OpenBSD kernel
-> Solaris10 kernel
-> WinNT5 kernel (running KDE via Cygwin there? why not?)
etc.

:)

Best regards, Mirya

This poll is not about which OS you are using.

But it *is* about your choice of OS! Your first two options directly refers to a website whose title is "The Linux Kernel Archives", and which is the primary site for the Linux kernel. Your next five options all refer to "distro", which is only a concept applicable to Linux.

It would have been nice to have an "other" option in the poll, even a snarky "I don't use Linux you insensitive clod" option.

Just updated the poll and removed the Kernel.org from the first options.

Regarding the distro translate it with flavour for BSD.

 2.6.11-ck2

..and 2.6.10-ck7 on another box..

Con Koliva's kernel patchset is simply great. Noticeably better X response, for me at least. It also includes the latest 2.6.11-"stability patch": 2.6.11.2.
