 I would, but...

I would volunteer, but I'm going to wait until it's possible to develop for this open source project without having to use proprietary video drivers.

Then keep waiting until KDE 10.0 ^^
No offence meant, but sometimes we need to make pragmatic decisions rather than blindly following some ideology ...

It IS pragmatism. I have the "wrong" video card, which doesn't have a proprietary driver for my platform. I could throw away the card and get the other one which does have a proprietary driver, but then I would be subjecting myself to daily kernel panics.

Shame on me for not being a gamer. Shame on me for not asking KDE's permission before buying a video card. Shame on me for not using the OS you want me to.

 Compiz & KWin

Would it be possible to add compiz effects plugins support to that new version of KWin? This way we would all be able to "share our creativity" :-)
KDE will be able to load fancy-looking old and new plugins from Compiz community and Gnome users will be able to use plugins made by KDE users with their decorator too if they like it!

if it could do this...

http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=31998

or...

http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=18790

I would use it but the cpu load is far too expensive and the 'features' don't seem to be useful in a working environment
just slows everything down, at least on my system, KDE4 does not perform well enough for me to justify it's use
so I will keep using KDE3 until v4 is as fast or faster.

 candy is dandy...

Well, I've put forward some unique ideas and coded what I could as best I could.
GL deco, selective transparency, better (imho) deco pixmap frame method etc...
but very little constructive input, it seems that kde-lookers are more concerned with the wallpaper
and don't really have any idea of what they need or want in an app or candy.
They seem happiest with garbage ie: MS candy cloning, don't clone it, make something better !

so... I have removed most of my material from kde-look because I need feedback to catch bugs and to implement the things one might need or want. I have left a few things that I hope will inspire some feedback.

no feedback, no code, the bazzar model doesn't work if every one takes and no one gives.

2k+ downloads of Detente, so if you guys want candy like that, the source is with you, give it back +++.

no flame intended but Bb ? I think there is more to it than proprietary video drivers, thats the hardware department, should be transparent to desktop app/candy coders.
Don't care how matrox or nvidia does their thing just care that I don't have to rewrite anything to be compatible.

and that's my candy rant...

Greetings, there are things that are due to improve like the jumps of the windows while they move from a side to another one, when we do this and umserva a movement type stairs is seen very ugly, I place this like example so that OS X handles very well this problem, are other effects that you can be improved referring to the movements of windows, so far that is single my first restlessness.
