Xara Xtreme is OpenSource

Xara Xtreme is OpenSource

It really happened like we announced end of last year. Xara Xtreme have held their promise and released their vector graphic program under an OpenSource license.

Xara Xtreme is OpenSource

While there are some additional plugins from third party vendors included in the Microsoft Windows version, which could not be released under an OpenSource license, the remaining parts are available for download. Bits are available for Linux and Apple Mac OS X.

If you are not sure, if you want to download it, have a look on the screenshots or you can also see it in action.

Is it now possible to draw paintings in Linux version of Xara or... I tried the trial version on Windows(tm), and it's really good, I downloaded Linux version once but It could only view .XAR files.

 Still not a useful

The compiled static version is not more than a screenshot on Debian. (There is not any working function.)
So, I compiled it myself. The result is:

"What can Xara LX do?
Most of the drawing tools now work but it's still not a useful tool just yet because it doesn't support save or export."
(From the xaraxtreme website.)

I know similar programmes. "Help us to develop it, and finally it will be useful but will not be free and open source."

I use a really useful tool: Inkscape.
It is open source, free and much more useful than XaraLX.

WHY do people insist on bitch-slapping people then running away? I suppose it is just a curse we must deal with.

You, are obviously one of those curses. You slime fud all over this site then duck and flinch when someone challenges you.

The choices are few. You either cannot read, will not read, or a Stallmanistic Beowolf-Bot who is payed by the FSF for such fud infections.

First off, it is just a working snapshot, showing us where they are with it and yes...they have made great progress.

If you had bothered to read my ariticle or dozens of others like it, the owner of Xara emphatically STATES it will be GPL'ed and Fully open source.

Whadda Putz.

Grow a spine...your children are counting on it. Are you going to run away from a war and make THEM fight one YOU could have won?
