The Krusader Krew is pleased to announce the release of Krusader-1.70.0 "Round Robin". Introducing many new, expert features as well as many operational and visibility enhancements. With this release Krusader is heading straight to its second milestone, bringing a feature rich filemanager with new technologies and standards to the Linux desktop. We would like to thank the developers, translators, and the rest of the community for keeping us sharp, for beta testing and using our filemanager and for your feedback, which makes this product one of the greatest.

Krusader 1.70.0 Release

Krusader v1.70.0 contains over 40 changes, bug fixes and updates in response to reports and requests from our users.

The highlights:

  • Drastic improvement of performance when opening folders with lots of files
  • Remote encoding menu for fish, ftp and sftp protocols
  • Various integrated checksum calculating and verifying tools that supports md5, sha1, sha256, tiger, whirlpool. External supported tools are md5deep and cfv
  • Text search in files displays the first line with keywords in a search window
  • Colorful user interface of many elements such as synchronizer
  • Tab oriented internal editor with syntax highlighting
  • More control over the terminal emulator
  • Modified KIO-TAR based on KDE's but support writing to archive
  • Tab oriented internal editor with syntax highlighting
  • A Safari-like Jump-Back feature (Ctrl-J and in the bookmark-menu)
  • Quick Navigation: hold the CTRL button and move the mouse over the text in the url bar to see this new feature in action
  • Calculate space in archives and remote filesystems
  • New permissions column as octal numbers
  • Preserve date for local targets on copy / move operations
  • New logo and splash screen
  • Column types can be changed and saved individually to each panel (each side)


  • Usabilty:

  • Ctrl-L goes to the location bar (url bar), as in Konqueror and Firefox
  • Ctrl-Alt-ENTER opens the selected folder in a new tab
  • Alt-Ctrl-S creates a new symlink
  • Ctrl-H opens the history list on the current panel (much like ctrl-d)
  • When starting krusader for the first time, auto detection of tools is displayed in a more coherent and good looking way
  • Trash, delete and shred options are added directly into the right click menu
  • Right-click menu now has a "Create new" submenu
  • New "clear location bar" button
  • Krusader's icon is set according to user's priveldges

    Huh? From what I can tell, the story submitter and the press release author, are one and the same. This is his copyrighted information and his own words.

    I am not sure, if the KDE-Look News Section is the correct place for release announcements, as there is KDE-Apps for that reason.

    Submit Krusader to KDE-Apps (if not already done) and update the entry for a new release.
