BEER:Source code available!!

A bunch of students at the IT-University, Copenhagen, have created "Vores Øl"(Our Beer) as an "experiment in applying modern open source ideas and methods on a traditional real-world product". They were apparently inspired by Richard Stallman's famous quote:

"Free software" is a matter of liberty, not price. To understand the concept, you should think of "free" as in "free speech"", not as in "free beer"".

According to their Web page, The "world's first open source beer" is a mix of the traditional ale brew and South American Guarana beans. Version 1.0 was a "medium strong beer (6% vol) with a deep golden red color and an original but familiar taste". Published under the Creative Commons license, the recipe of the beer is freely available to all at their web page.

The beer is not yet available in stores, in fact the first batch was finished amongst the students themselves, but as they say perhaps one day it could become "the Linux of beers.Who knows?"

 Wet Blanky

Let me be the first to cast a wet blanket over this story. This is NOT the first "Open Source" beer recipe. I myself have been distributed several recipes with my Open Source QBrew [http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=13153] program under the BSD license long before these guys came on the scene. But I'm not claiming that title either. Beer recipes have been freely shared, copied, distributed and modified for thousands of years. For these guys to claim they are the first is silly.
