convert Sony .oma files to mp3 in VLC?

Question:Hi
I heard that there will be a posibility to convert the old "*.oma" Files to mp3 or wave files in VLC.

OMA were Files from Sony HI-MD Recorders and Players in a Sony-owned ATRAC and ATRAC3 Format)

I know a lot of musicians have such old files on their computers and were not able to open it. There are some hints on the Web but none of them were working, because this hints were 2 to 10 year old. And there is no SonicStage Player anymore.

Could somebody please help me?

Answer:OMA file extension is a Sony Open MG used audio format. OMA files can be gotten in ATRAC3 (Adaptive TRansform Acoustic Coding3) with very high quality sound. We often cannot directly play OMA files in VLC. VLC cannot convert OMA to MP3.

You can use a Cicever OMA Converter to convert OMA to MP3 and then play the converted files in VLC.
