Changing Location after Login

ownCloud - Jan 9 2013
answered
Question:Hello Community,

i just set up a private ownCloud service for my university mates and me. We are using the cloud for sharing the scripts of the professors.

Unfortunately, some members are using my cloud as a kind of private space and are uploading stuff into their private directories which are not shared with each other. Since I found some illegal stuff in there, I want to change something.

The users shall not be able to have a kind of private space. After logging in, they should be redirected into a folder which is shared to everyone.

The shared folder is called "semester01". So after the login they should be directly redirected into this folder shared for everyone to minimize the risk of uploading private files.

Is it possible to change folder after login?
I didn not found any settings in the database or in the configfiles.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Answer:One way to do this would be to symbolically link everyone's upload directory to the same directory and set appropriate permissions.

If you're familiar enough with Linux this shouldn't be a problem; it's a little rough, but it's the same sort of thing I had to do to get my mobile client to save files where I wanted.

Another way would be to use a cron job to delete everything in the directories you do not wish them to use.

I think the ownCloud feature you are looking for is in this list: https://owncloud.com/overview

Dynamic User Storage: Seamlessly direct users to different storage locations based on their role and need – no more one-size-fits-all storage.

It is a feature of the Enterprise edition.
