Planux
Description:

Planux is a new, starting Gamer's Ubuntu derivative that is looking for more graphical developers, who will at this point work on themes, and after that, GDM and USplash. Currently we are using XFCE, but might switch to LXDE. We are also looking for programmers to make custom applications that will be helpful to gamers. The first beta iso is out, but until our SourceForge page is finished registering, I need the e-mail addresses of the people who need the iso so I can invite them to my online storage folder on box.net. We have an IRC channel on Freenode (irc.freenode.net), which is #planuxos. The website currently is being mocked up by myself and oming101.

 Reconstructor

OK.. I finally got a Ubuntu custom CD maker again by installing Linux Mint in a partition separate from OpenSUSE.. I should be able to get a very prototypical prototype of the .iso soon. DVD? CD? I don't know, probably DVD.

OK, hopefully this will work. I've successfully loaded an 8.04 .iso into Reconstructor, (If you ask "Why not 7.10?" It's because 8.10 is almost out and 8.04 is very stable at this point) and I've managed to load all the different software the CD will need.. all that's left is the building of the image. Since we have no official usplash or GDM login screen, I'm using ones that look pretty cool.. so, once this is done, I'd like some testers... More info after the build.

Building the .iso right now, and if reconstructor's right, this should fit on a normal CD... hooray, no wasting expensive DVDs that I have to buy with my allowance!

Scratch that, about the USplash and GDM theme.. forgot to add them before building. But... I finished the build, and it's ready for testing.. now is when we need any of you out there who know some programming to help us make custom applications.. I certainly don't know anything about that stuff.
Thanks in advance,
HotCocoa

OK, since our SourceForge project registration is still pending, I'll post the .iso on my Box.net account. But I'll need the E-mail addresses of testers so I can invite them to the download space.

IRC server is irc.freenode.net, channel is #planuxos. I'll be on probably throughout the day while I'm at work and as much as I can at night... girlfriend may get in the way of the nighttime access though ;-)

Ok, cool. I'll be in sometimes, but I run two OSes on this machine, so.. I periodically switch between them, depending on what I'm doing.

If any of you can post popular native linux games and (if possible) their ubuntu repository names, I would greatly appreciate it, because I'm putting a bunch of popular free games onto the CD.

I thought it might be nice to include cedega. You can use my old copy but for updates and such they will have to pay 5$ a month for support from the transgamming website. The old version works well with lots of windows games. Also the free version of mario is fun. It is in the ubuntu repository under smc. To download my cedega with a local update go here.

Just because I'm bored, I thought of something. We could make something kind of like Mozilla Prism that could open a little html page that had links for how to install different popular Windows games in WINE on Planux.. Just a brainstorm.

OK.. I'm definitely not good at registering for SourceForge, because they rejected the registration because I gave "too little detail" and sent me an email with questions I need to add the answers to to the registration form, but I don't know how. D'oh!

sourceforge is a very good place to go but you dont need them. Build your own website they are only about 15 bucks to start and you can run your own distro. They are not anymore lagit that your site would be. If you need help with building anything, ie... usplash, gdms or the whole thing let me know; I'm pretty good at it. This is the one I made
