Huston...we got a problem.

iv been noticing the group "Gnome" witch i found the name very atracting.

i was reading the posts and i found out they are trying to make some influence n Gnome by charging on the looks.

hi spoted a guy stating the next version of Gnome sould have the "something" icon set by default, and so on so, my point is that we got to start making some positive and constructive ideas about what we beliave that must be preserved, and that is Gnome itself.

take a look ate the group and sniff around so you can get a breif perspective of what they are trying to do.

dont joke because im just one step closer to to FreeBSD 7.0 as soon as it comes out!

the only problem is that it will be shiped with KDE and i dont fancy KDE. ill try gnome but i read somewere that it will be problems with it.

burritobuntu.....that's a new low on social discrimination.
I've heard good things of this group, but now I see that the leader is an ignorant elitist who doesn't know any more languages than english (maybe PC languages but they only work if you are a nerd or a computer engineer).
I thought this group was against all those branded wallpapers, but I see it is against Ubuntu being more popular than *inster another Linux distro here*, specially Slackware (which the group leader seems to defend a lot).
I hope to see more common sense in this group later.

well...i think he is just expressing his angry feelings about this ubuntu brand bombing! not about racist or any other kind of thing, so dont go that way!

second dont start off with "you are just pissed because ubuntu this and ubuntu that..." i am a ubuntu user, i just dont walk around waving this flag like i was a ftard mormon trying to preach my own mentality into others, respect is recieved when respect is given, and my own freedom ends were yours start, dont you think?

by the way, every Linux, *nix distro comes from the old "Berkeley Software Distribution" BSD from Berkeley University, so ubuntu its like every other single distribution(not even a OS, its a distribuition, FreeBSD ia a OS)there is no point on this for my point of view.

so to straight things out, because to me your just trying to make us look bad because of a joke,(mabye because you thought your gruopy would be more popular), the things we defend:

1- DONT IMITATE, INNOVATE!
2- NO BRANDED WALLPAPERS/GDMS/GTKS WITHOUT BEEING FROM GNOME ITSELF (ONLY IF ASKED)
3- NO VISTAISH/MACHISH/ANYOTHERISH IMITATION OF ANY OTHER DESIGN ALLREADY MADE

Yeah, that is what I am trying to say.
BTW greyhat, I agree with most of the points you made, except for the one about vistaish, macish, etc. Some people feel more comfortable using something that looks familiar, to help them familiarize with the new OS.
But I agree that there are just too much imitations of this themes, maybe two or three of each are OK, but there are thousands!!!!
If I find a new theme that uses a Vista or Mac theme, I will rate them down, because there are just too many of them. But if I see an old theme related to Mac or Vista, I will rate it up, so newbies can find a good theme THAT SUIT THEIR NEEDS.
Anyways, I find the MacVista theme, the one with Vista bars and Mac-like buttons is fantastic, because it blends both ideas beautifully, but there is also themes that just plainly mimick vista or mac which are just annoying.

i understand, there is one theme imitating MacOSX Leopard witch is very good, not by looking Machish, because i personaly dont like the Machish look, but it is very well done, the GTK theme is very good, but i must rate it down, because it didnt come from the guys mind.

i dont have a problem with it, ok mabye a couple of vistaish or machish themes, but this is a BOMBING, and i feel offended because you wont see me on any ubuntu forums posting shit about mac, or vista, or Debian, or branding it all over making people eat it every time they log om, maaaaannnnnnnnnn!

and again, most of all, i dont see allmost anyone defending what sould be defended, and that is GNOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe a group called "Go to Ubuntu-art.org to post your Ubuntu stuff" or something like that.

A new low on discrimination? Isnt that what we can expect next from ubuntu? burritobuntu? They have <ethnic prefix here>buntu already, they are bringing it on themselves. If you ask me its a bunch of bullshit. You dont see Redhat Hindu Edition, or Debian Indian r1, or anything like that....what the fuck is ubuntu thinking? One version isnt good enough? If ubuntu was so much greater than debian it wouldnt have to flood the internet with 10,000 different versions that only differ in no more than a few programs that could be installed on ANY ubuntu version...they are all full of shit. Seems the groups have devolved into nothing more than advertising (yes I'm looking at you PCLinuxOS). With all these cries of free speech, don't we all have anything better to say than advertising?

No wonder site managers won't step in to moderate submissions - the more submissions and the reactions against them mean more traffic to opendesktop.org which means better deals when its selling advertising to its 'Partners'.

How soon this will become spam-look.org!
