Description:

Envied Ubuntu Group

Ubuntu:We all love it
Fast, stable, accessible, free. It is described and recognized as the best Linux distribution.
This group was created for all those people who appreciate this great Linux distro and want to support the Ubuntu community as possible with their own creations and participation.
You can participate in this project in many different way:by making a custom gtk2 theme, writing a script(which install a special piece of software/solves a particular problem), compile custom application, etc.

The Motos are simple:
''Ubuntu:Always the best choice''
''The staff made it, the community will support it''
''Ubuntu is Envied:The only thing it can be''

Group objectives:
As already said, this group aims to make Ubuntu remain the most ''envied'' distribution.
So objectives to be reached are the following:
-Fix the multimedia leak of the standard installation
-Create custom gtk themes and icons
-Create script to install/unlock custom options
-Give support to the community with problem-solving solutions and artworks(Better support for new users)

We are not going to reinvent Ubuntu. We just support it.

If you think you can do something better/easier or even time saving, this is the right group to join to.

Hello fellow Ubuntu lovers. I am in the process of making a custom version of Ubuntu with the software Remastersys.

In addition to added software and a few tweaks. I have put together three themes. All of them will be included. Where I need your help is on which one will be the default. (the one you see when you first install or run the Disk live.)

Below is a link with three theme versions.

Most changes you can already see.

Just off the top of my head.

1.Gnomenu will be default.
2.I removed the standard gnome panels and replaced them with AWN.
3.I got rid of that annoying message that pops up in the upright every time you connect disconnect from the Internet. Or other wise do something where a large message is not needed.
4. Awoken icons custom script has been ran. It will make the trash icons match everything else.
5.Firefox has been customised and optimized with about config scripts.
6. Have eliminated alot of localization as well as junk files.
7. Plymouth Splash screen has been changed.
8. Mouse cursor default changed.
9. Customised Cairo Dock, with added Icons.
10. added the ability to open folder/file as administrator option on the right click menu (still have to input password)
11. Compiz is fully customised.

Much more that I just cant think off right now.

Added Software:
Bleachbit
Boot up-Manager
Start up-manager
GIMP
InkScape
Eclipse
VLC
Audacity
Ubuntu Tweak
Netbeans
Scribus
Shutter
QT Creator Sweat
DVD:rip and associated codecs
Compiz (extras as well)
Cheese
MySQL admin/Browser

and a few more.

I will have everything that is changed when I am finished and have the ISO uploaded somewhere.

 ubuntu?

first of all i think its a great group making ubuntu better. i am not a ubuntu user myself but its great seeing people putting effort in their distro.
However i dont understand your arguments about what makes ubuntu great?
Fast, stable,accessible,free?

Ubuntu is not really fast its just gnome.
there are alot faster ones like xfce lxde.

stable? ehh no sorry.. its based on unstable version of debian with some own programs and themes.

accessible? dont understand that one?

free? almost every distro is free..

I think you can say its more userfriendly and has a great community?

i sort of agree. we really should say things about ubuntu which only apply to ubuntu, not every other distro out there.

Hello all. I'm GroovyD, a former Ubuntu hater. I think I was only a hater because I was looking for something that fit ME in the world of Linux. I tried about 100 or so different distros via VMware, and downloaded about 20 on my little netbook. At the end of the day, Ubuntu ended up fitting like a glove. All the features I need, powerful, user friendly, just a really good OS. I'm running 10.10, and everything is going well.

We need a new custom theme. something dedicated to the group.
