Microsoft is an evil empire since personal computer ever announced. November in 1983, Bill Gates showed a beta version of Windows to IBM's head honchos. Their response was lackluster probably because they were working on their own operating system called Top View. IBM did not give Microsoft the same encouragement for Windows that they gave the other operating system that Microsoft brokered to IBM. In 1981, MS-DOS became the highly successful operating system that came bundled with an IBM computer.

Top View was released in February of 1985 as a DOS-based multitasking program manager without any GUI features. IBM promised that future versions of Top View would have a GUI. (microsoft DOS has no GUI, so it may be hard to users to use it). Then, that promise was never kept, and the program was discontinued barely two years later.

No doubt, Bill Gates realized how profitable a successful GUI for IBM computers would be. He had seen Apple's Lisa computer and later the more successful Macintosh or Mac computer. Both Apple computers came with a stunning graphical user interface. On that day, Bill Gates realized that Apple's Lisa is more powerful, with powerful GUI on that time. User can even play games, Solitaire is the first game included in Macintosh.

Competition:
As a new product, Microsoft Windows faced potential competition from IBM's own Top View, and others. VisiCorp's short-lived VisiOn, released in October 1983, was the official first PC-based GUI. The second was GEM (Graphics Environment Manager), released by Digital Research in early 1985. Both GEM and VisiOn lacked support from the all-important third-party developers. Since, if nobody wanted to write software programs for an operating system, there would be no programs to use, and nobody would want to buy it.

Microsoft finally shipped Windows 1.0 on November 20, 1985, almost two years past the initially promised release date. Also has Graphical user interface. then, in 1990, Windows 3.0 or called WINDOWS FOR WORKSTATION, from that time, MICRSOFT was on the way to become an evil empire.

Then, in 1994, NCSA mosaic announced the first BETA version of Netscape. Microsoft is now feel that they are left behind in the competition. To take part in the competition and take control of the businesses, windows has now launched Windows 95, with Internet Explorer. As we see now, Micrsoft doesn'tlet others take part in the competition.

As Windows NT is announced, the website, the networking systems (both intranet and the internet) and the webservers has all running the Windows NT. The empire is not be long, when Linux with the most powerful Apache Hypertext Transfer Protocol Server now taking about 1/3 the total webservers in this world. There's about 100 Million of webservers using the Linux after Unix.. Servers are better managed using Linux (many thanks to Linus Torvalds) with its reliability to run servers continuously and simultaneously. Now, Microsoft is not alone in his cloud-nine businesses...

Glory to the penguins....

"Microsoft is an evil empire!!!"

Everybody loves Windows, yeah, everybody loves it because of its fresh air, and hell, I love my door also...

Well, true.
I want to add that IBM now make Linux their favorite OS , and they says "The future is open". Do they realised we have the most powerful Operating System? Or is it only a commercial argument? only Lord knows. But it makes our ad :)

I wasn't sure which version I wanted, sure
I spent like all of student loan
but, oh boy I'm happy I did :D

You should all check it out, you know it has
this awesome new feature with icons on
taskbar! :D I love it, I would have
spent $1000 more if I had to.

If you wanna kill a company, go kill intel,

You know, I had similar thoughts about 7's new icon taskbar. I was going to keep vista on my laptop just for that. But then I realized that you can do the exact same thing in both gnome and kde. So I got rid of all windows on my computer, and have been linux-only for the last couple of months. And TheRob, I don't care if you like windows, but do you actually use linux? because I've only seen you make pro-windows comments, and talk about how it's the "best" OS, and whatnot. And if you don't then it doesn't make sense for you to be a member of this site, of even this group.

But maybe in the future if you go here

I don't know about gnome tho, but I highly
doubt there is a working solution.

I don't know what posting on kde-look
actually has to do with using linux,,, as
kde works just as good on windows.

but yeah, I haven't used windows for many
years, I was just being "sarcastic".

I'm sorry if I offended you, I was just curious to whether or not you were using linux. Sarcasm generally doesn't translate well over the internet. And I did forget about kde for windows, I'll give you that. But there is a plasmoid for kde that can give you a windows 7-like appearance: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/STasks?content=99739, and another program for gnome that can achieve the same effect called dockbarx.

That's true, but still the same happens with 14 yo idiots who try windows7 and say how good they are because they have aero shake. So? Same people, different OSes. At least the Ubuntu idiots of that type are much fewer.

most ppl here show hostility towards anything
that's newer than xp :D

so I can honestly say I haven't met
anybody like a typical "ubuntumaster" here.

....same trend seems to float around here
also, anything microsoft does is automatically
bad just because it's microsoft, well I
can honestly say I much rather use
any version of windows rather than
ubuntu, thank god there is real linux
versions floating around that doesn't
try very hard to be a windows copy.

Hmmm copy is a really hard word. Canonical's boss said that Ubuntu's aim is to achieve the functionality of OSX. So I suppose Ubuntu copies apples more than windows, but do they copy indeed? Lets see it in a different way. Sharks are fish which live to the sea and have a fusiform shape because they need to be fast to catch the fish they eat.
Dolphins on the other hand are mammals which live to the sea and have a fusiform shape because they need to be fast to catch the fish they eat. Both so same and simultaneously so different. That means that one of the two copied the other because was jealous of its abilities? Nope, but they both evolved in that way because it was the preferable method to be able to survive in the same conditions. Something similar happens with the OSes. They need to evolve and gain certain functional abilities if they want to be able to survive in the mainstream of the Desktops.
For example, OSX gave the first modern ideas of eyecandy, while Linux brought eyecandy in massive scales. Now windows do the same. They had to. It's more a way of interchange rather than copy.

Now if I prefer to use windows rather than Ubuntu is a complex decision. For example we see Ubuntu with what point of view? Philosophically or technically?
In the first way, if someone is advocate of FOSS then he would prefer people to switch to Ubuntu because it will be easier then to switch to other distro, rather than to windows.
If we see it technically then each one chooses according to his needs. At least with Buntus you can choose between 3 flavours and soon between four when Lubuntu is ready, if you think that a flavour indeed copies windows or osx or whatever. We should never forget the many options Linux offers. You can even transform an Ubuntu sytem to a totally different distro is someone is mazochist enough :-)

so epic it needs no discussion.

Idiots like canonical do tho. Their acts
are questionable. Someone here at opendesktop
refered to them as microsoft 2.0, I dunno

thoughts exactly.

no, I don't think Ubuntu is necessarily better, I just haven't tried any other Linux distributions yet. Though it is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than Windows. On my computer Windows was constantly freezing-up (I have 512MB RAM), but then I tried Ubuntu, I was completely new to it, I had a person on http://answers.yahoo.com helping me to enable compiz, he/she didn't know very much, so I went on googling, then about a month later I uninstalled Ubuntu, and went back to Windows Vista, then I got a virus and went back to Ubuntu, then I found out how to enable compiz.

window is not the best O.S.

Osx is da best.
windows 7 has exactly the same bugs as windows xp, it switches the keyboard language to english every now and than.

there is another error, witch is 100% equal to windows xp/2000, how ever i can't recall and i don't have lust to spit around in my emails i have send to mr steven sinofsky

windows 7 is definitely better than xp, but still not good.

windows has no hotkeys to show the desktop.
osx does and has other hotkeys that make you work faster.
impossible to win, you're more productive on a OSX.

many people, if not most, don't have a clue what their are doing.
most of them don't have the quicklaunch bar activated on the statusbar and there for don't see nor know about the 'Show Desktop' button and close/minimize each and every window every time they need to be on the desktop.

every windows lacks safety.
i can write a 10kb app and screw your entire registry.
(witch result in 100% guaranteed reinstall).

each fool can clodder up the system folder.
3rd parties drop residues in the system folder.
(residues, that stay after you unstill the program)

than the windows installer/setup systems suck.
too many next next next screen.
on OSX execute setup, drag drop program icon anywhere you like.
uninstall > drag icon to trashcan.
(it's a sort off container that contains all the library's and ...)

microfot windows series is a pos to generate cashflow.
they charge 319€ for a full option OS and they charged more than 500€ for vista.
you can buy OSX for 199 and have a 5 user license.

my friend and i have helped hundreds of peoples with their pc's, removing virus and addware, etc, etc.
each and every soul on the planet witch has a windows system has problems.
i have a friend who own a computer store, it's disgusting how many come by just to have their windows fixed again.

my bet is: windows is build like this on purpose.

you're pretty much obligated to buy a windows pc.
go to any big shopping centre and you'll only see system with windows already installed.

preinstalled windows on hp, dell, packard bell, etc, etc values around 35us$, a retail version 319us$.

i have a mac since 2004 and i have never need to reinstall the system, it still runs the factory installation.

even if you don't install anything on your windows system and once a while defrag, you'll have a slow system after a year. however it's 100% clean and no apps have been installed during this time.

WINDOWS SHOULD DIE.
calculate the value of Bill gates, steve balmer and Paul Allen.
just by buying someone operation system for 50.000us$
they dind't invent anything, they just bought and integrated.
it's this mashup, why all their software fails.
