I have been using U-E now for about 6 months, And I love It, I can say that in my opinion, ULTIMATE EDITION is by far one of the best linux disto's, And is destine to become one of the leading operating systems in the world!, And thanks to THeeMahn and his team for packing this distro full of goodies for all to enjoy! I've been using Ultimate Edition for maybe a couple of weeks... but FINALLY a Linux distro good enough (IMHO) to replace Windows! I love it!!

I think this work is absolutely beautiful. I have tried all the versions and this is the BEST EVER. The only thing I would like to see different would be rounding all the Usplash text. Not really a criticism but I think it would make the theme even more beautiful.
Thank you for this beautiful, artistic theme plus.

Yes, I agree I do believe that TheeMahn puts his hart and soul into this distro. He strives to make it the best ! Right now I have so many themes to choose from, And so many different ways to customize, It could take a long time to try them all! and by then TheeMahn would have come up with something else !

Hate to be the party pooper here but Ultimate Edition isn't a Linux distro. It is based off of Ubuntu and gnome but it isn't an offical Ubuntu distro. UE had to change its name. It was Ubuntu Ultimate but Canotical I think it was made them change the name and logo since it isn't Ubuntu.

no no my friend go ahead and poop! but your poop'n on your own party! as Ultimate Edition IS a linux based distro (just try google-ing "linux based ditros") and IS a ubuntu derivative Ultimate Edition started out as Ubuntu Ultimate edition, but was disenfranchised due to the fact that Ultimate Edition included proprietary non free drivers and applications and the good folks at ubuntu thought that Ultimate Edition was going to far left from there root "all free" opensource beliefs, I know this because I am an active member of "Ubuntu" software forums "home of Ultimate Edition" and I have read the manuscript that TheeMahn (Guru and creator of Ultimate Edition) Posted after it was sent to him from the ubuntu hierarchy.And although unofficial It is still a ubuntu base distro! It was good to hear from ya though, Have a great day!

I tried the gamers version a while back but it didn't work. It messed up my sound and screen so I went back to Ubuntu

Hmmm don't know why that would happen with just the gamers Edition may be a video and audio card conflict, Let me guess,probably an ATI graphics's card ?and a sound blaster of some sort?, you really should give Ultimate edition 2.2 or 2.3 a spin lots of new stuff,and updates that will probably work better now, as gamers is kind of dated. they run live and hey ..the price is right! Sweet! It's basically Ubuntu but shinier! Must...HAVE! the design layout stays with Ubuntu, but the themes and whatnot look sweet! Thanks for making this OS!

Btw, will this work with an ancient DELL Inspiron 4000 just fine? my GPU (ATi Mobility M3 is hateful for Linux drivers... :( )

Hello and welcome ! We are glad to have you ! As far as your dell, I can't say,Have you tested it with ubuntu ? The best bet is to download the latest version of Ultimate Edition burn it to DVD and try it out live ! Ultimate Edition 2.4 -9.10 karmic, Is due out very soon, We are testing it now, should be a couple of weeks out,2.3 is very good but if this proves to be to heavy for your system try 2.1 or 2.2

with Ubuntu 9.04 and 9.10 i had to manually set up my xorg.conf to display my 1024x768 res (sticks to 680x640 and 800x600 by default). It isn't a massive issue, just sometimes a pain to set it up if I lose the file.

I like the GUI and color themes. Very nice! Would I by any chance be able to download the beta and upgrade to RTM thru update-manager?

Forgot to say (i don't see an EDIT button anywheres) the software I use works with 9.10 and not as well with 9.04, which is why I asked to DL the beta for 2.4 (that is the one for Ubuntu9.10, right?).

Hello again ! If your hardware works fine with 9.10 Karmic (Ubuntu)Or if you upgraded 8.10 2.2 to 9.10, Than it should also work with Ultimate edition 2.4 as well(probably better!) And sorry beta versions are only available to moderators and administrators,"Beta testers" TheeMahn does not release any thing until it has been totally tested by the team !(He has got screwed in the past) he wants a flawless product! So be patient, The "Global" release of Ultimate Edition 2.4 is due very soon ! We (The team) are working tirelessly on it right now !

thank you for providing the link, kind sir! once i manage to download this (ancient usb 1.0 wireless card downloads this at a rate of 60 kb/s) i will burn it to DVD via another comp! But alas, I might not be able to install this on my current laptop, unless I borrow someone's DVD drive for an Inspiron model. I have a 24x CD-ROM drive, so I gotta find someone to borrow from. No biggie though. Can't wait to give this a spin!

How well do you think UE 2.4 would run under these specs:
CPU: 700Mhz/850Mhz Pentium III
HDD: 20GB HDD (don't feel like firing it up to check details)
RAM: 320MB PC100
Manufacturer: DELL
Model: Inspiron 4000
Graphics: ATi Mobility M3 8MB Video RAM

OK, dling now. ? I tried ubuntu 9.10 and did not like ! I assume it is exactly the same with UE 2.4 ?
The reason I ask is because UE 2.3 is just the layout/easy to use Linux I want and ubuntu 9.10 changed to many things to my mind that were not well thought out or not ready for that build.If the layout/look are the same as 2.3 I will install.Which brings me to the next ?
Seeing that I have 2.3 set up to my taste and extra programs that I use,when I do the install, I assume that I can use the upgrade option and that way leave
my /usr /var /home untouched except for the new UE 2.4 stuff
I had been a Mandriva user for years but early this year they broke my system with the nvidia update and have been with UE since.I have it running on VmPlayer on the XP side and is how I got to know and like it
