I want to know since when you use Ubuntu.
Because Ubuntu is a Debian-based distro and I use Debian now, what is so much quicly and complete if you are a quite experienced user.

I suggest you to go on Debian if you know some based line codes (apt-get , su , top , init 0/6 , startx). I will help you if you ask me questions.

OMG WTF ROFLCOPTER BBQ! Ubuntu is a good distro based on its technical aspects.I have been using it since 8.04; it gave me my start into Linux and it works very well now. In my opinion however it's kinda boring, because it is simplified. I prefer sabayon because it challenges me to actually learn about the underlying OS.

LOL fuck, kid. Ubuntu is not the best OS in the world. The best OS is obviously Plan 9. Its just unusable for the average/experienced user. It is the successor of UNIX. SUCCESSOR OF UNIX!!! And best of all it was made by Bell Labs, the same people that made UNIX.

Calling Ubuntu/Debian the best? You must be delusional.

I don't know, Haiku is going to be awesome when it comes out of pre-alpha.

BSD is for people that like freedom.
Linux is for people that like "freedom"

Doh, mr Ubuntu Lee - how can it be 'obvious' if you can't see it?

"Obvious" means "Plain to see" and I doubt if anybody has ever heard of Plan 9.

I agree that Windows slaves who just started using Ubuntu and its derivates are quite annoying.
RTFM and reading books about UNIX-like systems is IMHO better than bothering people on forums ;)
I use Slackware and *BSDs everyday and I never asked someone how to configure anything :P

It's low, I can't open a program without swapping. But it is all.

I prefer my Debian, what is more faster. The main default in Ubuntu is the desktop environment (Gnome) who slow everything. It's terrible, but it is true.

For the exp users, I suggest a Debian with flux or blackbox or, if you so like Ubuntu, a derivate (Xubuntu ,UbuntuLite or fluxbuntu . It speeds a lot - I tried)

I too have the exact same problem!

I have a hard disk that I can't access
because it's some filesystem ubunto can't
cope with, my infrared device doesn't do
nothing, my wireless card even less, not
to even mention I have no sound, and
when I try to watch a video the screen
turns black and all the sudden my computer
restarts.

Yeah, this ubunto thingy really is special alright!

Specially bad

PS. yeah! I can write text documents
with openoffice :D:D:D
