at other ppl's desktops and configurations, they give me
Ideas I can't possibly have with my current IQ.

So please! if you have a very nice desktop, don't be shy,
put it up here!

please use bbcode when u post, makes it easier for
other users to view ur screenshot, just put "[url]" in
front of the link and "[/url]" after... then it will look
like this http://www.link.to.ur.amazing.screenshot.html
Thank u for ur consideration!

Hey,

I know this isn't a desktop, its just a simple clock. But I like it. Wrote it in Java.

^Love the theme and wallpaper, Rob.
But the scrollbar in the tree-view (Places) section looks kinda weird, overlapping the highlighted shortcut and all.

Mine for today (netbook)

Details in the Run dialogue ;)

Yeah, the scrollthingy is made on purpose,
I have no idea on how to make this look
good atm... same goes for the statusbar,
looks weird with the iconsize slider like
that... I dunno. Late night themeing is
not always the solution I guess :)

Hehe, about your shot, I'm trying to count
the colors :P what is it? 3 or 4 maybe? :D

well ofc, there is a slight gradient on
the folder icons, but excluding that.

Very anti-pixelfucking indeed, must be
one of the most "minimal" shots I've seen,
still looks kinda techy in a cool way tho ;-)

Actually, it's 5 colours, but they're all sorta close to each other in value. =P

Nothing special today.
Just 'rescued' a neighbors old laptop from the trash heap. ScrotWM, with a pretty simple .Xdefaults colorscheme.

At least it's got more colours than my last screenshot ;)

Will probably make a torrent box out of this one later.

Cheers.

Hmm what specs constitute a 'throwaway' now (by your neighbor's standards)?

I wish I could set my fonts like that but my eyesight prevents it. Really serious looking desktop, the kind you use to find* thos* terrarists* :)

shedied,
It actually ain't too bad. First gen AMD Turion 1.6Ghz (the one that's famous for overheating), 256mb RAM, 40GB HDD ... definitely usable.

Wouldn't put Gnome or KDE4 on it (regardless of distro base), but an Arch, Gentoo or minimal Debian should have no issues with a full DE like Xfce on this machine, as long as you keep the bloat out.

Problem is, the touchpad doesn't work anymore (why the neighbor wanted to get rid of it), hence my usage of a tiling Window Manager. It's currently still running ScrotWM, but I plan to install Ratpoison (an old fave) or Musca when I have the time.

Cheers.

@gutterslob

Put a neat sticker on the useless touchpad. Maybe 'Swiss Army' or something to match the theme, hey the skinning/themeing shouldn't stop on the screen, right? Something monochromatic would work (for all time). Or 'Works with DOS' should be effective as anti-theft, and they see the screen like that, they might believe it too

Heh i'd trim the white off, but the stickers on my laptop eventually lose their adhesive from the heat AND with use. I'd put that one on (if i know that I'd be staying with ratpoison heh); unless you'd be switching to another WM, but judging from the images, it would still be applicable for you long term, right? :)

That's a fresh theme :]

I myself might not be a big fan of those Win/OSX styled themes, but that looks really nice.

I know you can't share the panel theme cause its not plasma and not public, but I'm very interested in the bespin style and your color scheme. It would be nice if you could tell us your config.

Best regards!

 My simple desktop

Yup... not much difference compared to the style Ubuntu currently comes with by default.

After all I prefer it this way and so, I don't use Win/OSX like things or many great widgets and such :D
