Yeah man! Nice to see you here :)

I like your shots, I always did :)

Your shots always have a certain amount
of polish to them that makes them look
really high quality :)

Great gallery, not the first time I visit it tho :D

Hey, thanks man! And thanks for the nice words. I'm always interested in giving my desktop a COMPLETE look.

Haven't seen anything of yours for a while, dude. Creative spark gone? You were the best themer for GNOME, and even your little dabs into KDE theming are awesome!

Yeah! I know the feeling, there is too
much in the linux desktop that is just
plain and simple incomplete!

Tho kde4 is getting there!

And I personally think that kde4 has
achieved something that the linux desktop
has been missing until now: a look.

MS has the glass looking thing working
for them.

APPLE has the metallic/aqua thingy going
on.

Linux has had both of those and like
2347867 others, but none of them, complete.

Now I think we have a look, and it's called
air.

well, that is jus the art department, but
nowadays, seems like people think like
this:
"if it doesn't look good, it must be bad"

About my art, thx man, youre too kind.

Well, as I stated above, I don't feel
the urge to change my desktop as much
anymore, I'm pleased with how kde4 look
from default.

I'm sure I will grow tired of it and then,
well, I guess I open gimp :D

anyways, enough of my mindless blabbering.

oh, almost forgot, my shot:

Lovely desktop! I'm assuming KDE 4.3 beta?

The default Air is pretty ace, I agree. Linux distros with KDE4 have an opportunity here now for a completely professional, modern look.

I think it's fine to take inspiration from other desktop environments or other OS user interfaces. Ideas are there to be nicked. The difference is making them in a new way and making them YOUR OWN.

I take influences from EVERYWHERE. I once wanted to create a GTK based on light switch. ^_^

The brilliance with KDE4.x is that it can look like ANYTHING.

 Dark Graphite

Here one desktop I was using a month ago, is based on Dark Graphite By Seanbarman, the wall by CB2K.
Icon set is hydroxygen so then you can change colors, I have tried with grey folders and its better, it looks more metallic.

Yeah it does! I complied it yesterday, and I MUST confirm that. There are some little and big improvements that make me happy while using KDE. I justs can't imagine what comes with 4.4... So (maybe some devs will see it), Thanks alot! :D

 About KDE and Gnome

by Puli on: Jun 13 2009

Score 50%

Hello guys, nice shot there truly!
I wanna just ask an opinion, I have installed linux on an old machine :
P4 2.4 / 1.5 GB ram DDR 400 / NVIDIA FX 5500 GS.
So then I have tried different distros like mandriva, redhat, kubuntu, ubuntu, and then suse gnome and KDE4, personally I do prefer Ubuntu and suse KDE among the list above, however on suse KDE4 it seems to be slower than ubuntu, and also it crashes often, I had problems with drivers and updates.
Does someone of you know if KDE needs more resources than gnome or it's just the KDE version which is not stable yet?
