 Mandriva distro

Mandriva is the second Linux distribution that I ever used, and it became my favorite distribution, then I also tried several more distributions like kubuntu, opensuse, fedora, but I'm sticking with Mandriva. I just like it!!! I have gone a long path with it in learning about Linux.

 using linux for how long

hey all. Just curious as to what type of users we have in the group. Just wondering how long everyone has been using linux in general, how long you've been using mandriva, and whether or not your a linux only user or dual boot.

I've been using linux for 11 years, have been using mandriva for 7 years, and in the past 3 years have had linux as my main OS.

Mandrake was the first Linux that I was ever able to install on my old machine
so I have stayed with it.On my laptop I had Granular which is Mandrivas grandson.
Mandriva 2008.1 is on a dual boot with XP Pro and Amiga running under emulation

I have used Linux OS now since 1999 and on daily desktop OS since 2001 when Windows NT5.1 released (Windows XP).

I have had Linux OS devices earlier than that on network devices etc, but complete software system like Mandriva, I have used only from 2001.

Mandriva user I have be since Mandrake 7.2 to 10.0, when I tried other Linux-distributions like S.U.S.E (then) and even a RedHat. When Ubuntu 4.05 came, I tried it but soon I returned back to Mandrake what got changed to Mandriva and I have sticked on MDV, even that I try every Ubuntu, openSUSE, Fedora release what they offer.

I even tried PCLinuxOS few months but after first impression, it was samekind as Ubuntu, not good enough.

Now I run MDV 2009 RC2 (Final soon!!) on 7 machines, and my friends runs 2008 or 2008.1. Few only Ubuntu because they wanted to try it.

I have made just conclusion that Mandriva is one of the best Linux OS distributions there, if not best one. But because we dont actually use the OS, but applications and softwares like Desktop Environments, it is for many hard to say how long they have used Linux OS, because they are not sure have they used it on cellphone or other devices ;-)
