Friending isn't working at the moment but the mulit-aspect feature is intrigueing.

Hmm, just from looking around the retroshare site a little I think that one is all about having your own very private and separate network of people.

Diaspora on the other hand is about having a public network with strong privacy options and no evil-overlords.

I'm sure that the Facebook team are perfectly nice individually but their gestalt is evil.

well, looking at the reviews of diaspora, they didn't seem to think it scaled well and wasn't well adapted to lots of users. My experience of retroshare is it allows users to create forums, etc, all hosted without a central server. Maybe a Diaspora concept hosted on top of a p2p net.
