I use it on KDE 4.2 with gnome-settings-daemon to make gtk apps look like my desktop environment theme.
Oxygen is a pretty nice theme, porting it to gtk is the best way to share its beauty, you don't need to switch to KDE 4 if you like just its style and you're using GNOME.
It's Open Source as I see it, don't you?

is there no thing such as qgtkstyle for theming qt apps in gnome for kde? if there is then i see no point for doing this kind of gtk styles:) but it is your free will to do it:)

Yes, you're right. Just like having the freedom to *choose* to download or not this theme. :)

There is, but it doesn't work very well. It's harder to change certain things in GTK+, and the GTK+ guys don't really have any interest in making a nice toolkit that looks good in other platforms like the Qt ones do. (QGtkStyle is an official Trolltech/Qt Software project, while gtk-qt-theme-engine is just a hack someone put together.)

 GTK Engine

Just so no one else has to go digging through the gtkrc file, you'll need to install the gtk2-engines-pixbuf engine to use this theme (or at least, that's Ubuntu's name for it).

Yeah, and I had to change "pixmap" to "pixbuf" in its config file to make it work.

This is how deluge 1.1.x looks running in kde4.2. Notice the progress bars in the grid.

 Wrong colors

by doleman on: Apr 26 2009

Anyone knows how to get the right (KDE 4.2) colours to be applied? Enabling Apply colours to non-Kde4 applications from Colours-Settings doesnt work for kde42-oxygen, for qt-curve for example everything works fine.
thanks

I have gone through and adjusted all of the colors, reworking a large number of the pixmaps and have molded this GTK+ theme into a very close match for KDE 4.2's Oxygen. I have put my modification of the work up on KDE-Look.org (since it is intended for KDE users) including icon theme. It's called Oxygen-Molecule and you can find it here: http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=103741

(I hope you don't mind, DeeZiD)

Great work, but i still have one more question is it possible to make oxygen-molecule match the (customized) kde4.2 colors? Not make kde4.2 match the oxygen-molecule (default) colors. Please letme know what i have to change/edit if it is possible....I tried changing colors in theme gtkrc but it doesnt work for buttons and other Widgets.

Unfortunately, in order to change most of the colors in the GTK+ theme, you will have to edit a ton of pixmaps, including gradients, etc. That's what I had to do to the original theme to make it match the default KDE colors. If anybody is up for the challenge, though, we could have some nice derivatives.

 Problems with iceweasel

The theme doesn't work well with Iceweasel here:
1. No scrollbars
2. No borders around any elements
3. Selected menu item is not highlighted

Any idea about this?

 murrine engine?

I'm getting this warning when I'm using this theme:
Gtk-WARNING (recursed) **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "murrine",

Is there anything related to murrine engine in this theme? Theme works nice without murrine engine installed.

Forgot to say: This warning breaks a lot of Xdialog config tools here because Xdialog writes it's output to stderr and the warning is getting there, too.
