Description:

Concept
This time I wanted to create a darker theme with a pixmap bg. Further all control-elements (buttons, scrollbars... etc) should be transparent.
To create this overlay effect and getting it displayed correctly wasn't as easy as I thought it would be and this may cause problems. This makes the theme pretty experimental as well... :)

Contents
+ 2xgtk
+ 2xmetacity
+ xfwm4
+ 2xemerald
+ gdm
+ userContent.css (Firefox3)
+ NowPlaying screenlet theme

GDM
If you have a widescreen monitor, please rename the file "bg-wide.png" to "bg.png" in the gdm-theme directory.

Metacity
Because metacity resizes the titlebar if the title font is too big, I recommend to use the font "snap" as window title font. With other fonts try sizes around 7 and 8.

Note
To enjoy the theme in all it's sexyness be sure to copy the userContent.css to your firefox profile.
If you find any bugs please let me know (if you have a minute a screenhot would be much appreciated).
The pattern for the bg is from theinspirationgallery.com (modified of course).

Screenshot
The wallpaper (also used as bg for the gdm-theme) is from mandolux.com (slightly modified). Thx again Mando for letting me use it!

That theme is very good. I like the quality and the ideas behind it. I thought to make something like that myself in my theme but that would be rather difficult. Or probably not?

A.K.

 Help Installing

I really love the theme but I can't seem to get it to appear under system>preferences>appearance.

When I click on the customise option, it isn't there either.

it installs just fine under emerald however that just seems to change the window borders and not much else.

I've extracted it to my usr/share/themes folder.

Also, the gdm seems to work just fine and looks great.

Hm, that's weird. Could you please run:

ls /usr/share/themes/Mira*

and check if it really contains the theme folders with the "gtk-2.0" subdirectories?

You could also try to extract the theme to /home/YourUser/.themes (~/.themes). If the folder doesn't exist yet, then just create it (dont forget the dot ".themes").

An index file is included so it should show up in the appearance preferences.

I have a feeling this is going to be "fun".

Grom@EDSA:$ /usr/share/themes/Mira*
bash: /usr/share/themes/Mira_by_sen7: is a directory

I tried installing it in my /.theme folder with no luck.

All the GTK subdirectories seem to be intact.

index.theme is there but doesn't show up under preferences>appearance

Also, I've tried just dragging and dropping it into the theme window (under appearance) however it just says it doesn't appear to be a valid theme.

Sorry about the double post.

I blame my slow internet connection causing the page not to load and then when I refreshed it sent it again.

Ah ok, figured it out now.
You just need to move the 2 folders in "/usr/share/themes/Mira_by_sen7" to "/usr/share/themes".

Deviantart doesn't like the .tar.gz format because they automatically change the filename and that script ignores the double filetype.

What you need are just the "Mira" and "Mirav2" folders in Mira_by_sen7. Then it will work.

I will upload a rar or tar to dA to prevent this issue.

Ok, uploaded a tar to dA.
If you download the theme again and extract it, it will work now without any problems.

Drag and Drop should still not work though, because the tar includes 2 themes (Mira & Mirav2). But manual extraction will be fine.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

Firefox is showing all the buttons like this. This is the only thing annoying in this theme, i like everything else.

Did you read the theme description? :)

"...be sure to copy the userContent.css to your firefox profile."

The userContent.css is located in the Mira folder and needs to be copied to "~/.mozilla/firefox/54df7g55.YourProfile/chrome".

Um... sorry for complaining a lot but OOo isn't showing any icons when I use mira, it shows text in the buttons instead, any idea why that's happening?
Thanks in advance.

Please take a look at page 5 of the comments.
OpenOffice will switch into high contrast mode if you use dark themes. I already posted a solution on the previous page.

 Firefox complete fix!

 by garyc40 on: Feb 20 2009

<for upper-intermediate users>

I love this theme so much that I dedicated some of my free time to fix the style problems in Firefox. While the theme already provided a userContent.css file, honestly it reset all the checkboxes and radio button to the stone age!

So I created an unofficial fix for this. Here are the steps to implement this fix for firefox:

- Download the zip file from: http://ifile.it/vcw7eaf

- Extract the zip file to the following folder:
/home/<your username>/.mozilla/firefox/xxxxxx.default/chrome

- Find the forms.css file (if you're using Ubuntu, most likely it's located in the following folder: /usr/lib/xulrunner-x.x.x.x/res ), make a backup of the file, then open it using root access:
sudo gedit /path/to/your/forms.css

- From line 84 to 149, find any instances of "! important" or "!important" and delete them. For example:
change "line-height: normal !important;" to "line-height: normal;"

- Restart firefox.

After this, all the checkboxes and radio inputs will have the theme's graphic style again.

Enjoy!

Hmm, I can't reproduce that error... works fine over here.
Do you have this problem with other themes as well or just with Mira?
