Description:

Concept
This time I wanted to create a darker theme with a pixmap bg. Further all control-elements (buttons, scrollbars... etc) should be transparent.
To create this overlay effect and getting it displayed correctly wasn't as easy as I thought it would be and this may cause problems. This makes the theme pretty experimental as well... :)

GDM
If you have a widescreen monitor, please rename the file "bg-wide.png" to "bg.png" in the gdm-theme directory.

Metacity
Because metacity resizes the titlebar if the title font is too big, I recommend to use the font "snap" as window title font. With other fonts try sizes around 7 and 8.

Note
To enjoy the theme in all it's sexyness be sure to copy the userContent.css to your firefox profile.
If you find any bugs please let me know (if you have a minute a screenhot would be much appreciated).
The pattern for the bg is from theinspirationgallery.com (modified of course).

I like it very much, but I don't find good explanation how to install Mira theme. Distribution does not contain index.theme file. Drug-and-drop on Appearence -> Themes is not working. I have installed Linux Mint only few days ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated, sincerely...

Rename the archive from "Mira_by_sen7.gz" to "Mira_by_sen7.tar.gz"

Extract the "Mira_by_sen7.tar.gz" to "/usr/share/themes/" (for all users) or to "/home/YourUser/.themes" (just for a single user).

Now open the appearance settings and click on customize. There select Mira(v2) under interface and window border (or sth. like that).

I don't know howto install the emerald themes on LinuxMint. They are located in the Mira(v2) folder.

Thx! The font that I use in the screenshot is called "Snap" and you can find it in the "artwiz-fonts" package. This package should be available on most distros but you can also get it here: http://artwizaleczapka.sourceforge.net/

Hi, I really love the theme. Nice work!

Any idea how I can make my menu a little transparent like yours? Do I have to be running a XFCE desktop?

I am running Ubuntu 7:10 w/Compiz btw.

If you have ccsm (CompizConfig Settings Manager) installed it's pretty easy to make the menu transparent (and everything else you want).

Open the CompizConfig Settings Manager and go to:
Accessibility >>> Opacity, Brightness and Saturation >>> Opacity(tab)

Under the "window specific settings" click on new and enter the following:

Windows: popupmenu
Value: 90 (for example)

You can do the same for: dropdownmenu, menu, tooltip, and so on...

Thanks for that.

Mine isn't exactly the same. I have an Opacify option under Accessibility,but no Opacity, Brightness and Saturation and no Opacity Tab. Maybe I am running a different version.

But I'll play around with the settings and see what I can do.

I like it very much, and it looks good on my PC.
But there is something strange happened, when I installed your theme, the system told me that "This theme will not looks intend because the required GTK+ engine" is not installed", but it didn't tell me the name of the requied GTK+ engine.

btw,I use Arch, and I have installed the package "gtk1-engines" which include pixmap engine.

Sry, I'm not sure what the problem is. Perhaps it has something to do with the recent update to gnome-2.24. I'm using arch as well but it works fine for me.

Hi, you just need to copy the gdm theme to "/usr/share/gdm/themes".

So if you extracted the Mira.tar.gz to "/usr/share/themes" this command would install it:

cp -a /usr/share/themes/Mira/gdm/themes/Mira /usr/share/gdm/themes/

After this you can select the Mira gdm theme in the login-manager preferences or via gdmsetup.

How Can I change the color of the scroll bar for Mira(v2), because as is it's hard to see. I was thinking something that would stand out, like gray or white.

This is a pixmap theme. To change the color of the scrollbars use you favourite image editor.

Ehm, you want me to write a tutorial for a random image-editor inside a comment? Sry mate but I certainly won't do that! :D
I don't mean to be rude so please don't misunderstand me but I do this in my free time. If you want to mod the theme go ahead but you'll have to learn about this stuff on your own (tutorials will help).

As you might know the theme consists of _many_ different images that you can find in the gtk-2.0 folder (the scrollbar images as well). You can recolor these images with gimp, photoshop or whatever editor you want to use. Tutorials are all over the place...
