Description:

Dust is a concept for a new, refreshing look for Ubuntu. The idea was to take the defining aesthetic elements of Ubuntu and remix it into something clean, modern, functional, and unique.

It's a new take on the Ubuntu aesthetic using a dark palette and subtle colors.

 hacking the theme

I'm very new to editing GTK themes and was wondering if anyone could help.

I want to make the dropdown menu entries more compact (the entries under Applications Places System).

I usually run themes that compact the menu a lot more than the dust theme, as my laptop screen is only 1280 x 800 and it gets cramped real quick.

Exactly which part of the theme file do I need to edit to achieve this?

Look for the parameter "gtk-icon-sizes" in gtkrc and change the value for "panel-menu" to "16,16". They're generally put at the top of the file.

Or just add these lines to the gtkrc file:

gtk-icon-sizes ="gtk-small-toolbar=16,16:gtk-large-toolbar=32,32:gtk-button=16,16:panel-menu=16,16:gtk-menu=16,16"
gtk-toolbar-icon-size = GTK_ICON_SIZE_LARGE_TOOLBAR

What does this theme need to work?

GTK-engine is what?
Specific icon set needed, what?

I am trying to use on GNOME 2.24 on Mandriva 2009 and this just shows as blank.
