...your ripped content. it is a nice screenshot indeed. if you would be honest and link the site where you ripped it off, it would be evererybody's free choice to read "not recommended for being used at this point".

but you are but so fed up with your trolling, that you can't even see what damage you are doing to gnome, which is a very nice desktop. but it needs real people. developers. not trolls like you.

Hey, if anyone wants this theme for KDE, just download Kong, http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=925. I'd also like to note that Gorilla is *not* a Gnome theme. It is a Nautilus icon theme.

If that's how gnome will look, I will use it without a doubt. I like the larger, more roundish icons, which would work nicley with a pen tablet.

sorry, many many cool themes are still spread internally right now for testing and usecases but planned to be released with gnome 2

I do like kde, but use gnome most of the time, and I can say that gnome already looks like this, I've just installed this nautilus theme and it looks very nice on my gnome 1.4 desktop with aa fonts

...the same verve that you are promoting gnome - and actually at the same time - someone has ditched my votes by now 16% and has posted a comment with more than 4000 lines of crap to my last wallpaper - so please excuse me while i don't applaud for this experimental screenshot. I don't care _who_ is voting bad again and again. But if it is you i've got some good advice: Try to read up on this one:

yeah the official statement. you may want to join irc.gimp.org #gnome and stay there for hmmmmm 3 years ? and then you get a real clue what gnome DEVELOPERS really think about it. not to mention all these nice comments on gnome-private mailinglist that no one is supposed to read.

and no sorry, i am not that person writing these loooooong lines. but looks like the shit people gonna post on /. every now and then.

... appearance, particularly with default or default-related settings, yields the impression that everything is made of wet, squishy, sticky clay. It is certainly not what I want to think about every time I look at my desktop.

Size and photorealism have nothing to do with it -- it's the colour. There's waaaaaay too much emphasis on army-green shades and everything looks too dark. The thick black lines around everything don't help, either.

I sincerely hope that KDE retains its bright, crisp and clean look-and-feel.

... wasn't a GNOME versus KDE thing. It was a criticism of GNOME's appearance as shown in the preview screenshots. I agree that it's much more polished than what's pictured in the early GNOME 2 screenshots you pointed out. The thing is, despite being more polished, it still "feels" the same -- fine for people who like the base theme, but I'm not one of them.

I'll try to put it in words... GNOME looks professional. Industrial. Serious. Predictable. Mundane. KDE, on the other hand, looks inviting. Residential. Fun. Optimistic. Artistic.

I use this computer at home to unwind, to relax, and occasionally to do work. Is it any wonder I prefer the KDE style?

I think KDE looks very good, and anyway, you can make the exact same theme for KDE and Gnome. But there's another thing. Can you beat KDE/Qt with GTK/GTK++? NO WAY IN HELL!
