Description:

It is time to give a modern and professional look to our desktop! The new theme makes more clever use of orange (not over-use it) and is mainly color-neutral. It is designed for Ubuntu in mind but can be used in other distros that may bear warm colors.

Installation: (requires pixbuf theme engine)
Very simple. Just double click the file newwave-(xxx).gtp where (xxx) is the version number e.g. 050. Note that if you have previous version of the theme in your home folder you need to remove it first. You may need to log out then log in to make all changes appear (e.g. handlers, lines). For more information on how to fix Firefox's menubar text and how to use the theme in root programs see the README file.

Extras:
The package also contains:
- New Wave Configurator (GUI),
- Emerald themes,
- Compiz-fusion settings,
- Second theme with dark menus,
- Firefox skin,
- Some metacity tweaks.
- Time applet tips.
Theme for xfwm4 (Xubuntu) can be downloaded in the Download section of this page.

 Well done

Love this and even the orange too! lol...

I do use Fedora however and I was wondering if the orange can be replaced with the color blue from Fedora. I would do this myself but I dont know how to do it myself.

Thanks

If you clik the link to the homepage you will find the svg sources of the theme and modifying them could result in other colors. One other guy has started work on this so you may consider contacting him and helping him out (for his name look up the comment of the theme - should be one or two pages back. It was called Valeryan24 or playa1313 I think).

 Window Border

by cikahamdija on: Mar 9 2009

First of all I want to tell you that this is the greatest theme I've ever used! Actually it's the first that I like :)

I have two questions:

1. Is it possible to quick-hack the gtkrc file to change the width of the window border (the vertical ones). I have problems pointing my mouse to resize the window :)

The gtkrc is quite huge and maybe you can help me telling me where i have to make the change

I probably wouldn't suggest to include the wider vertical border into the 0.8 release because it looks very good as it is. But sometimes i prefer usability over good look :)

2. For 0.8 release: Is it planned to fix the problem with Evolution mail. If you go to Mail preferences you can hardly see the options (also in the dark theme). It's not so important because i dont really use often my mail preferences :).

Again thx very much for this theme! (i love orange-black combinations)!! Great work

Thank you. If you have further questions please the next time ask them in the help tab of this page.

1. The gtkrc file is of no use to you. Go to the metacity-1 folder and open metacity-theme-1.xml. There you should edit the styles for all types of windows. Here's an example:
<distance name="left_width" value="1"/>
<distance name="right_width" value="1"/>

Just replace the value with 2 or more pixels and you are done.

2. This is not a problem with the theme but with evolution. I probably can fix this with some hacks but this is not the good way. I prefer Evolution devs to fix this rather than me hiding it with "make up".

Thx! Your solution works perfect :D Now the theme is perfect for me :)

I saw on some forums that some people have the same wish like me (window border).
Maybe you could place some FAQ or something with the quickfix.
However I wouldnt recommend changing the width in the official release (I will post this into your bug list :)).

Never mind about Evolution Mail. It seems that it has the problem with other themes too (maybe general).

 Strip-colored progress bar

Thanks for the theme =)
However i think the progress bar is a bit plain. It would be great if it can be strip-colored.

Progressbar animation is no possible now but in 0.8 the colors would be richer and it will have some more depth.

 Fix FF please.

You theme is available in the "Appearance" menu in Ubuntu 9.04 Beta, congrats! I choose it as my theme and guess what FF menu has dark text.

This can harm the user experience especially for newbies that don't know how to do the user CSS thing you suggest to fix that.

Thank you.

 Just a thought

Would you consider doing a monochrome version? I am currently using your theme and I love it. I think it is superb and very modern. But at times I would like to have the option without the orange highlight. Thanks again for sharing your hard work.

Cheers, Normand.

For a grey version have a look at my favourites. There is one callled NewWave-GreyMOD. It should do the job.
